Chicago Police found two guns and more than 160 rounds of live ammunition hidden in a Gresham neighborhood garbage can Tuesday on the South Side. Tactical officers patrolling the Gresham District were flagged down by a person who told them the firearms were stashed in a trash can in a nearby alleyway, according to a police statement. It looks like an old exposed hammer shotgun, which would make it very questionable to shoot because of its age. The other appears to be a Marlin 70P .22.
160 rounds, yawn... This was probably a drop/holding point for someone that didn't want to get caught with it between crimes, or something that simply got thrown out by someone that didn't care about it. Either way, not exactly the police recovery of the year.
160 rounds will not fill all of my GI 20 round magazines.....

“Tactical officers” sheesh. What a country we live in.
I guess that is a far cry from Peace Officers.
In my youth, I can remember reading how to properly dispose of ammunition, hose it down with wd40 and throw it away.
I can’t help but think, throwing away ammo is improper.
And a Scope.... let’s us not forget the Scope.
It might just kill someone; it’s SO-O-O-O-O deadly.

Isnt live ammo the same thing as ammo?
There is “dead” ammo, as in dummy rounds, inert, or duds.
So “live” ammo has some application.
