Pelosi on Illegals: 'We Cannot Prohibit a Path to Citizenship'

Audio at source.

(CNSNews.com) – House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said today that the United States, as a country, "cannot prohibit a pathway to citizenship" for illegal aliens.

“As a country, we cannot, let me say, we cannot prohibit a path to citizenship,” Pelosi said Tuesday at the Peter G. Peterson Foundation annual economic summit in Washington, D.C.

“I don’t think we as a country want to be a country that says, ‘You can do our work, but you can’t have the rights of a citizen in our country,’” said Pelosi. “It’s more about who we are as a nation.”

Pelosi joined other politicians, including New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Sens. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) and Rob Portman (R-Ohio) to discuss the economy and other topics, including immigration reform.

Nancy Cordes, a congressional correspondent with CBS, asked Pelosi if she would be open to the House Republicans introducing legislation that would put pieces of immigration reform up for consideration that might not include a “pathway to citizenship.”

“It has to be comprehensive immigration reform,” Pelosi said. “Now, the Senate bill is not a bill that I embrace lovingly.

“However, it’s bipartisan. It passed the Senate. It’s something that could be signed into law immediately, and I’ve urged the speaker to take up that bill,” Pelosi said, referring to S. 744, the Border Security and Immigration Modernization Act, which cleared that body in June 2013.

Pelosi said House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and other Republicans might present an alternative to the Senate bill before this session ends, but it would have to include a pathway to citizenship to gain her support.

“But to your direct point about citizenship; the Senate Bill is effectively a legalization bill with a path to citizenship. It’s long, arduous and takes a good deal of time,” Pelosi said.

“What I’d like to see is a bill that does something similar to that,” Pelosi said. “I don’t think we as a country want to be a country that says, ‘You can do our work, but you can’t have the rights of a citizen in our country.’

“It’s more about who we are as a nation,” Pelosi said, adding that illegal aliens want to be “relieved of deportation.”

“As a country, we cannot, let me say, we cannot prohibit a path to citizenship,” she said.

Allowing the lawbreakers to stay and work here puts them at the head of the line.

You are correct, the Democrats need to import voters in order to remain in power. They are doing it through both legal and illegal immigration. Their problem is that legal immigrants become Conservative at a faster rate than do illegal immigrants. And those pesky Conservatives with their voter ID laws are putting their scheme at risk. This is about demographics and the role of voter fraud in providing the short term solution. Long term, amnesty gives the Democrats what they want.

Nan, if a criminal invade your home, are you going to call the police or would you feed, clothe and let him sleep in your house?

Illegals are criminals.

Very informative charts. Thank you. But, remember: immigrants do not necessarily remain Democrats. They are much like the mushy headed college graduate, a clueless liberal who becomes a Conservative after exposure to the real world. The Democrats understand this, so their fix is the illegal immigrant who can flood the polls with Democrat votes. No matter that they are not eligible to vote, motor voter has accounted for that. Amnesty will fix it for them long term.

2d Generation immigrants won’t fall in line with the Democrat scheme, but if they can seize power for just a generation, it won’t matter.

What the hell is the ditz talking about? It’s OUR country. We can prohibit anything we want. Even the importation of freeloading commie ‘RAT voters.

Egg-sucking, s***-for brains, Bondo-faced Nanzi Peelousy (Miss Lube Rack, 1936) can talk about a “pathway to citizenship” and “immigration reform” for hours, and not once will she call it by what it really is ... you don’t see the word “amnesty”, just all of its euphemisms.
Once the interest groups get their ***amnesty*** that they have paid their Congress whores for, soon the safe houses will fill again, the newly minted `Americans’ will come for your job, and the new wave of “undocumented immigrants” (unless we are prepared to just come right out and say, “We don’t have a southwestern border, or we don’t have immigration and naturalization laws—or both) will be clamoring across the border to take the jobs that are left.
Your federal government, all three branches, doesn’t give a—clearing throat—`rats ass for us.

What kind of insane world do we live in where this would encourage anyone to go for amnesty??

"If I don't get what I want I will make everybody's life miserable."

If you hadn't noticed, Obama operates strictly on the level of the "id".

Most immigrants do remain Democrat over generations. In fact, the children of the predominantly Republican Cuban immigrants are becoming mostly Democrats. You must remember that 87% of the 1.1 million immigrants who enter annually are minorities as classified by the USG. It is no surprise that according to the 2012 exit polls, Asians voted 73% for Obama; Hispanics 71%, and Blacks 96%. Immigrants and minorities vote more than two to one Dem. Even religious groups like Jews vote overwhelmingly Democrat. For most people, they inherit their political leanings much like they do religion.

2d Generation immigrants won’t fall in line with the Democrat scheme, but if they can seize power for just a generation, it won’t matter.

In 1970 one in 21 in this country was foreign born; today it is one in 8, the highest in 90 years; and within a decade it will be one in 7, the highest in our history.

The nation’s immigrant population (legal and illegal) reached 40 million in 2010, the highest number in our history. The U.S. immigrant population has doubled since 1990, nearly tripled since 1980, and quadrupled since 1970, when it stood at 9.7 million. Of the 40 million immigrants in the country in 2010, 13.9 million arrived in 2000 or later making it the highest decade of immigration in American history, even though there was a net loss of jobs during the decade.

The influence of immigration on our demographics is profound. 80% of our population growth is due to immigrants and their children. By 2019 half of the children 18 and under will be minorities and by 2043 we will be a majority-minority nation.

By 2050 the demography of the US will be similar to that of CA today. CA is a solid blue state and will be for a very, very long time. States like CO, AZ, NV, VA, NC, FL, and yes, TX are turning first purple and then blue. We are being colonized by the Third World. You can't keep bringing in 1.1 million legal permanent immigrants a year along with 650,000 guest workers a year, and 500,000 or so illegal aliens annually without experiencing major demographic changes. We have had in a row three out of the 4 highest decades of legal immigration (1990, 2000, and 2010) in our history.

Even without amnesty, the Dems are destined to be the permanent majority party. They may already be when it comes to Presidential elections. Unless we reduce legal immigration, the country as we know it is finished.

Most Black families have been in this country over 200 years. The Republicans/Conservatives do need to offer something to the post government handout generations. It’s quite amazing how many blue collar, hard working, born in America are still voting for the Democrats who are busy destroying their way of life.

Both parties have abandoned the American worker. The GOP needs to break away from big business and side with the people. The Democrats receive more money from business and Wall Street. We have entered the era of crony capitalism.

We have always had, and continue to have a path to citizenship available to all; but not equally. The worst offenders of our immigrations laws have the most favorable access to it.

IT'S CALLED LEGAL IMMIGRATION!!

Earlier today I saw a graphics of the densest element in the universe. It's called Pelosinium

Calling that moron a box of rocks for IQ is an insult to rocks.

Hey Nancy, fecal matter-for-brains, does that mean we have to let you pass S 744 BEFORE WE CAN FIND OUT WHAT IS IN IT?

again???
