Eyewitness accounts
Eyewitness Michael Shelley told KOIN 6 News on Sunday he saw Ford standing in front of a streetlight when she was shot. Shelley said he doesnt believe he saw her holding a gun.
I just watched. I was mesmerized, he said. He saw Ford standing across the street from his house after wrestling with a Salem police officer.
They asked me if I saw a weapon at all. I said, it couldnt have been on the right side. (That side was lit by the streetlight.) I couldnt see anything on the left side.
Crystal Ford, the mother of Jacklynn Ford, who was shot to death by Salem police, May 11, 2014 (KOIN 6 News) Crystal Ford, the mother of Jacklynn Ford, who was shot to death by Salem police, May 11, 2014 (KOIN 6 News) Fords mother, Crystal Ford, told KOIN 6 News Sunday her daughter was right-handed. She also said investigators arent giving her much information.
I just want to know what happened. They wont tell me anything, she said.
To me, it doesnt seem right. I mean, how she was a threat to this officer.
Mark Sharp, who lives near the site of the shooting, said he saw Ford run across the street and wrestle with officers.
Thats when I hear a mans voice yelling stop, stop, stop, he told KOIN 6 News on Saturday.
I hear pop-pop-pop and Im, like, wait a minute. I saw him standing over her and smoke was rising up from the firearm, he said.

Crystal Ford also met with Sharp on Sunday when she dropped off some flowers at the spot where her daughter was shot.
Its very inhumane, she said. Theres no justification for that. I dont understand that at all.
Morrison, a 12-year veteran of the force, is on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. Neither he nor his K-9 partner, Baco, were hurt in the chase.
The Oregon State Police Major Crimes Division is leading the investigation.
Get used to 21st century journalism.
Who knows, the author may have recently arrived from Somalia or worse, he may have graduated from an American School of Journalism.
Give the guy a break and read between the lines and/or words and you’ll get the gist od the story.
I’ll guess this was written in Tibetan or Cantonese and translated to Engrish??
But her name is deceptive...
Stay for the veal
Wait...the officer chased her, wrestled with her, shot her, THEN sent in the canine?? The writing within this article is horrendous.
"Multiple arrests for meth possession, driving while suspended, burglary, and weapon charges seems to indicate a heavy drug problem now doesn't it? If I had multiple DUIs and assault charges, that would indicate I drank more than just "one beer" now wouldn't it? I think she used meth a lot more than one time.
Her record and previous weapons and drug convictions indicates pretty heavily this was a justified shooting. It is a pretty damned hard sell to get anyone to believe she was an innocent girl gunned to death by the big bad cops."
I hope more official information is released later. Can you monitor this Nick and see if there is more forthcoming? There is a photo of her but I am unable to transfer it.
I just assumed that the police k9 units were to ensure that the police would have a dog to shoot if and when a guilty person was apprehended and there was no other dog around.

LOL. Reminds me of a movie scene where the bad guy has captured the good guy and says “I’m gonna kill you and break your neck”.
Newspapers must be going out of their way to hire illiterates as reporters.
There was a dog on the scene, maybe the cops were trying to shoot it and hit her accidentally.
So am I, but we'll never learn anymore than what is here. Rarely do the news services follow up on anything like this. Unless of course the perpetrator is a known Republican. /snigger
I am beginning to believe that the Islamist terrorists we are fighting have a better chance of surviving an encounter with our military under their rules of engagement than the general public has in encounters with our domestic ‘police’ force.
Looks like a meth head.
I am now waiting for the anti-cop brigade to descend...
Smoke was rising up? Salem PD uses black powder?
I wonder if this is a copy of the Closed Captioning that ran while the story aired on TV. That might explain the weird syntax.
Why is her history relevant? Do we have summary execution for meth heads?
“I am now waiting for the anti-cop brigade to descend...”

Well, you’ll likely have a long wait. There is an “anti-BAD-cop” brigade (of which I’m a proud member). Based upon the exponential growth of bad cops (or at least reporting of bad cops’ activities) the brigade may have to be reorganized into a division of several brigades.
Yesterday, the news here in Oregon says she was “connected to the Gypsy Jokers biker gang”, but they didn’t say what the connection was.
Looks like a tweaker.
I understand your sarcasm. After all,how many times do you find meth addicts with multiple arrests carrying firearms with bad intent?
