CONFIRMED: Tea Party Donors “Audited” 1,000%+ More Than Others
We recently reported that donor lists had surfaced indicating that the IRS audited conservative groups more often than liberal groups. Recent developments indicate that this unfair treatment extended to individual donors as well.
According to the donor lists, 10 percent of individuals were audited, which is much higher than the average 1% for the ordinary American citizen.
After the House Ways and Means Oversight Committee looked over the lists, they demanded that the Government Accountability Office start looking into the activities being conducted at the IRS to find out why a high number of Tea Party group donors were being audited.
Rep. Dave Camp, the chairman of the House Ways and Means Oversight Committee had the IRS review the names on the donor list to see if they really had been audited.
The IRS reported back confirming that 10 percent of the names had been audited. The findings led to questions of what kind of criteria the IRS was using to select individuals for audit.

The IRS reported back that 10 percent were audited — substantially higher than the average rate of 1 percent of average Americans who are audited each year.
Mr. Boustany said he has asked the Government Accountability Office, Congress‘ chief watchdog, to look at how the IRS Exempt Organizations Division decided whom to audit.He said the GAO review is underway and demanded that Mr. Koskinen offer investigators full cooperation.
“IRS has long insisted that Americans should not worry about political targeting at your agency because the IRS has layers of internal protections to guard against it. But in the course of our investigation, however, we found that Lois Lerner acted in defiance of these internal protections,” Mr. Boustany
These donor lists are proof that Lois Lerner was ignoring internal protections in order to target donors for audit based on their political beliefs. Lerner abused her power to try to intimidate conservatives into silence by having their taxes audited, which is a clear violation of the law.
Lerner has also tried to impede the investigation by refusing to cooperate, pleading the Fifth Amendment, after already waiving that right, which has led her to being held in contempt of Congress. There is little doubt that she should be brought up on criminal charges for her activities and for violating the First Amendment rights of American citizens, as this kind of accountability is the only way to stop targeting in the future.

Actually, the big story for me is the GOP dragging its feet on doing anything about this for so long....Almost as if they are controlled by the other side...

Due your diligence on this. Their are TP organizations that never asked for “status” and exist of off hand to mouth donations if you will. Tell me who were the smart ones that saw a potential merde storm and didn’t play the game.

well i am one of the audited- thought its a state audit, and i can’t tell you how it pisses me off...
