Why Putin Worries About Poland, But Not Obama
Forbes ^

Posted on 05/16/2014 6:33:14 AM PDT by dead

As Russia devours Ukraine, President Obama’s decision to stall missile defenses for Poland looks more and more reckless.

Let’s go back to 2009, in the heady days when President Obama was sworn in and his advisers were eager to hit “the reset button” with Russia. The “reset button” was self-congratulation masquerading as a bold new idea. Just because the occupants of the White House had changed, didn’t mean Russia’s long-term interests had. The “reset button” mentality assumed that personalities, not interests, drive nations.

Still, Vladimir Putin was shrewd enough to spot a naïf at the poker table and upped the ante. Team Obama was happy to oblige and indefinitely delay the Bush Administration’s move to deploy ballistic-missile defenses to Poland and Czech republic.

What prompted the Bush Administration to promise billion-dollar defense systems to Poland? A surplus of Cold War fervor? A parting gift to defense contractors? Hardly. It was Russia’s 2008 invasion of Georgia (using a similar rationale that Putin would later repeat in Crimea). That invasion also prompted a divided Polish parliament to vote firmly to accept the new defensive shield.

What stopped the Russians from devouring Georgia? America’s willingness to supply Poland and other allies with defensive weapons. Team Obama didn’t seem to absorb the two lessons on the blackboard that year: Russia is hungry for new (old) lands and that missile-defense, which limits Russia’s influence in Europe, is the best way to deter them.

Once Obama delayed deployment of missile defenses in Eastern Europe, Putin knew he had a free hand to reassemble the old Soviet Union piece-by-piece. Invading his neighbors would now be cost free...

It was Russia’s 2008 invasion of Georgia

Huh? That missile system had been in the works for years before that.

Obama supports the worldwide Communist revolution. Only then can the socialist utopia (worker’s paradise) be fully realized.

Why would he hinder the reassembly of the former Soviet Union, a union which is in his mind synonymous with the advent of worldwide Communism?

To Obama, the Communist powers are the heroes and western democracies are the enemy. An enemy soon to be expunged.

He is merely doing his part to help the cause.

The Current Occupant now squatting in the White Hut likes to fancy himself some sort of wise, kindly, and benevolent savior of mankind, and he is endlessly surprised by the part of the world (some 95% or more) that does not see it that way. In order to achieve that high “idealism”, he is willing to take drastic and perhaps illegal steps to bring the territory once known as “the United States of America” into conformity with that vision. Because he is operating with no instructions (and would not follow them even if he had them in hand) and tends to make it up as he goes along, he is subject to a vastly greater number of missteps than would be a more experienced and astute player.

Vladimir Putin has little choice, really, other than to slap this silliness around, if only to keep some sort of order in the world. For sure, little leadership is coming from the Current Regime in Washington.

In order to believe that Vladimir Putin is anything other than the heroic figure he appears to be, you need to believe that Bork Obunga, the Rothschilde family, George Soros, Victoria Nuland, John (the gigolo) Kerry, Hillary KKKlintler, and every other one of the "neocvon(TM)" fools in our state department are all good people, which is ridiculous.

The United States is still demographically a Christian nation but you'd never know it from observing our government. All you ever read about our government doing these days is supporting regimes which persecute Christians and Christianity, and then you ask whose side you think God might be on? You think God could ever be on the side of George Soros, Monsanto, and the Obunga state department?? For that matter do you think God would be on the side of "conservatives" who weren't bright enough to see through demoKKKrat/NWO/Soros/US_StateDept propaganda and BS??

All of that is aside from the fact that Putin almost singlehandedly stopped the idiot greentards and Malthusians from shutting down all of the world's economies in 04 with the Russian hacker attack on the East Anglia CU email database which gave rise to "Climategate" (www.climategate.com). Other than for that, all of the idiots comparing Putin with Hitler would likely be rubbing sticks together to make fire.

The rulers of Russia have taken a hard look at the ongoing suicide of the West and determined that Russia is not going to participate. This may in fact be the biggest factor in the tidal wave of propaganda and disinformation which the West is subjected to regarding Russia and Vladimir Putin, and in the policies of our state department. The bankers who run the West hope to prevent the calamity which they are facing by bail-ins and austerity programs and that, combined with the Malthusian and greentard policies of our governments figure to produce a world of major grief for the West over the coming decades.

Those people can ill afford the alternative example of a prosperous and happy version of reality in the BRIC nations for everybody on the planet to see on television and the internet.

But Obama IS the kindly benevolent savior of mankind.

That is why he got the Nobel Peace Prize, not for actually doing anything (he hadn’t) but just for being him.

I’m not sure I buy this Forbes piece. I agree it was stupid to delay or to cancel missile defense.

What keeps the Russians in Russia was a US advisory and military presence in the former soviet states. Had we continued to do that in Georgia, for example, I’m not sure you’d have seen an invasion.

Georgia was a dry run for the Ukraine. At the time, Europe thought Putin was buying their line about how history would look at Putin, and whether he wanted to go down in history like W.

Putin sees himself the next Peter the Great, or maybe that chick that got killed trying to have sex with her horse.

Putin and Obama have different agenda’s.
Putin is working to put back together a Russian empire and Obama is punishing his internal political enemies.
He pretends to care about international affairs.
Putin knows this and acts accordingly.

So then Putin and Obama have the same anti American agenda.

Pat Buchanan believes (as I do) that God is on Putin's side:

Oh, for God's sake. The world is not black and white. Putin is not heroic because he opposes Obama. Obama is not a good person because he opposes Putin.

And "George Soros, Victoria Nuland, John (the gigolo) Kerry, Hillary KKKlintler, and every other one of the "neocvon(TM)" fools in our state department" are not good people either because they oppose Putin.

And Putin is not heroic for his killings and imprisoning and torturing journalists, rampant stealing from Russia's skyrocketing revenues, protection of corrupt oligarchs, election rigging on the level of Saddam Hussein, invasions of Georgia, Crimea and Chechnya, the indiscriminate civilian killings in Chechnya, turning Grozny into 'the most bombed city in the world', orchestrating the Russian apartment bombings that swept him into power, blatantly retaining power by circumventing the Russian Constitution, (14 years on the job now) and financing groups from all over the world that hate America. All of which is extensively documented and substantiated.

Just because he extensively uses state propaganda and Russia's petro and gas revenues to glorify his greatness and manliness, doesn't mean you have to lap it up from him. You're buying just another cult of personality that's been replicated from North Korea to Spain.

Consider the possibility that they're all terrible? More a matter of degrees than anything.
