Stop listening to so much conservative talk radio.
Take a break. Watch a cartoon. Go to a ballgame.
Do anything else for a while but think, talk or argue about politics.
Do what I do and listen to country music instead. I guarantee you wont be so angry all the time.
Thats what I told a bunch of riled-up conservatives the other day when I ran into them at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.
I think I really shocked them when I said I rarely listen to talk radio.
What? You dont listen to Sean or Rush or Levin every day?
Nope. Nope. And nope. Theyre all great radio guys, great conservatives.
But I used to work in conservative talk radio. I didnt listen to talk radio every day then and still dont for the same reason I bet most country musicians dont listen to country radio.
Dont get me wrong. Conservative talk radio is great. But all you hear are angry callers. The only people I hear enjoying themselves are the hosts.
But these days it can be dangerous for Republicans because all you hear is conservatives picking fights with each other over who they want to run for president in 2016.
Its become a bitter internal Twitter debate between Tea Party conservatives, economic conservatives, social conservatives, libertarians, hawks, doves and who knows how many others.
Everybody elses favorite conservative candidate for 2016 is branded as a loser, a part-time conservative, a pretender to the legacy of Ronald Reagan.
Rubios soft on immigration. Paul is a dove who supports moderates. Cruz is too rash and too radical to win.
The problem is too many conservatives are spending their days looking for the bad in each other instead of looking for the good. No wonder we have so many angry people in our party.
Remember whats on my fathers gravestone? -- I know in my heart that man is good.
Thats something conservative Republicans should keep in mind this fall and especially in 2016.
All this factional infighting and ideological hair-splitting is dangerous for the future of the GOP -- if it has one after 2016.
Instead of knocking Rand Paul as an isolationist or a traitor to the Tea Party cause because he came out in support of a nominee picked by the party, give him a break.
And give him some credit for focusing on the most important prize at hand putting the GOP back in charge of the U.S. Senate this fall.
The bottom line is were all conservatives. Were not the enemy. The liberals are.
We need to end the intramural squabbling that is tearing the Republican Partys Big Tent to shreds in the fight to prove whos the purest conservative of them all.
For 2016 the GOP has to get its primary act together and conservatives of all factions have to come together to agree -- early on -- which horse they want to run in the White House Derby.
Otherwise, in two years well be looking at a choice not between Hillary and the second coming of Ronald Reagan, but between Hillary and the second coming of Mitt Romney.
“The bottom line is were all conservatives.”

I am beginning to wonder if Michael has actually listened to talk radio before, because I hear this maybe 10% of the time. I am also wondering if he was even present at his own radio show because I recall mostly positive happy people there, too.
Not all of us...
Wrong, Mikey. The goal is NOT to put the GOP(e) back in power. The goal is to put CONSERVATIVES in power.
Yes, yes, and you've gotta be kidding me, Michael.
Ah, this coming from the failed radio host, internet huckster and the guy who recently said “Shut up Tea Party, You’re Candidates are Kooks”?!
No thanks, Michael. Something happened to you and you’ve gone to the dark side.
Michael Reagan just hangs out at the Reagan Library?
No sale, Michael.
The angriest people I hear on talk radio, are when they put liberal callers on the air, who argue with the host.
I don’t hear too much anger on talk radio. Mostly, I hear conservative hosts, urging that we return to traditional values, and criticizing the Obama administration. And mostly this is done calmly, and matter of factly. Not with angry outbursts.
Reagan’s right, BUT the emphasis should be on taking back the Senate with TEA Party Constitutionalist leaders IMO.
It’s silly to split hairs over the “angry callers” statement. He’s right there too. Most folks are so frustrated with the Democrat experience we are enduring how can anyone call them other than “angry callers”?
Its not at all about ideological hair-splitting. Its about standing up for conservative principles, something the GOP is simply not interested in. The GOP is what it is. It wants our votes and our money, but not our principles and our convictions.

I will say this to any angry conservative - STHU, channel the anger, and get off your lazy ass and do something. If you need my steel toed boot up your ass to get that done, I’m glad to help.
I have no use for the constant prancing around doing the hippie protest schtick. We win by winning elections, getting majorities, and passing legislation. Anything else is a hysterical drama queen sophistry.
If you can’t do anything else, then at the very least debate the liberals on the internet, and verbally stomp their faces in on every site they inhabit, at every turn.
Do something already.
Yep, you do have that.
I guess it depends who you listen to. I listen mostly to Dennis Prager and Michael Medved. But even those guys, I only hear from time to time. I work for a living, so don’t get to just sit and listen and listen.
Work harder, Dilbert! By the time I hit "post", 10 more people will be on welfare.
I never get tired of listening to that.
Good post. Conservatives in general tend to deal with facts. Liberals, on the other hand, operate mainly on the emotional level.
If you listen to any liberal, their arguments will always veer off topic into personal attacks and blaming anyone else but themselves.
