Check out Sons of Bill, Lucero, Jason Isbell (Southeastern was the best album written in 2013). Older alt-country such as Uncle Tupelo, Son Volt, Whiskeytown, Wilco, and Ryan Adams.
The Old 97s are great as well. Sounds like if “The Replacements” did Country.
Agree! And Son Volts 2013 album was the best from 2013 imo! Check out "chatham county line" on youtube. They're friends of mine from NC and do bluegrass/Americana. ...they have a new record coming out in a few days.
