I just called Sun Trust Customer Service...the lady said they had gotten PLENTY of calls about this and they have an answer...

First of all, the number is: 800.SUNTRUST (800.786.8787)

Second, when you call, just keep hitting 0...it'll get you to a person. They WILL RECORD YOUR CALL.

Third, the person who answers will ask you your first and last name. I told the nice, sounded like a white older lady, who answered who I am.

Fourth, I told her calmly but firmly that I was calling about the Benham brothers, and did she know or hear about the situation? She assured me she had.

I told her I was not happy with the way they were treated and that even though I didn't have an account, I spend a lot of time in the south and will let everyone know what kind of company Sun Trust is--that they are against basic Christian beliefs and business with them should be avoided.

Fifth, the lady read to me from a prepared statement (which tells me they are hearing from a lot of us...) that Sun Trust believes in the right of all people to follow their conscience and religious beliefs and in their Constitutional right to protect themselves, etc. etc. etc.

Sixth, and this is what caught my attention, is that this person claimed that a "third party" that was doing business as an intermediary between the bank and the Benham brothers was the one that did the servering--and NOT the Sun Trust bank itself.

She said that Sun Trust was working to get the relationship back on track.

I asked her who was the "third party" but she said she did not know--but said again it was not the doing of Sun Trust.

Again, I did not call yelling and raving, but saying very calmly but firmly this situation is wrong.

I urge any of you who are wanting to do a little bit of phone time today to do so.

I can say that either the woman was a good actor--'cause she seemed sympathetic OR she knew the phone call was being recorded and did not want to get into trouble later.

Let us be peaceful but unyielding on what is right and wrong.

Thanks for that information. I emailed them from the contact us page, but called after I saw your post. The woman I got, who was very nice and had a thick Southern accent claimed she knew nothing about it & asked me what happened!

While we do not publicly comment on specific vendor relationships, we don’t make choices on suppliers nor base business decisions on political factors, nor do we direct our third party vendors to do so.

"The characterization in the media with respect to this matter is inaccurate. We are contacting our third party supplier who works with Benham Real Estate to clarify our policies."
