Melissa Harris-Perry: ‘You’re Not Getting a Full Education’ in a Single-Race Classroom
Mediaite ^ | May 16, 2014 | Noah Rothman

Posted on 05/16/2014 5:20:26 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry joined her fellow MSNBC host Joy Reid on Friday to talk about the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s historic decision in Brown v. The Board of Education and modern racial dynamics in education. Harris-Perry, an educator herself, said that the metrics used to assess the quality of an education need to include diversity as well as factors like test scores and college attendance.

Harris-Perry and Reid wrestled with the history of segregation in education and eventually moved on to discuss the rise of charter schooling which both noted are now attracting minority students as well as white students. Reid noted that this phenomenon leaves public schools with fewer students who may not be of the highest academic caliber.

“You and I are both parents,” Harris-Perry conceded. “So, we know that when are you making a choice for your individual child, you can have political commitments and theological commitments, but your primary commitment as a parent is to make sure that the best educational opportunities are open for that kid.”

“That said,” she continued, “I think we do need to start thinking of an integrated classroom as a quality classroom.”

“Part of what happens is we use these measurements for the quality of the classroom and the quality of the school that don’t account in any way for racial diversity, right?” the MSNBC host added. “It’s only test scores or number of kids who go to college, which are meaningful, but I think the other piece of it is to say you are not getting a full education, you are not being indicated as a human being or as an American citizen if you are learning in a single-race classroom.”

But the liberals tell us there is only one race. So no one has ever learned in anything but a single race setting.

She’s right. You’d be missing
How to apply for a WIC card;
How to write rap and hip hop;
Which wires to short to steal a ride;
Proper use of the Slim Jim;
Proper belting technique for the dropped pants look;
How to speak ebobnics;
And so much more.

It’s a well settled axiom of government school education that a black kid is incapable of learning unless sitting next to a white kid.

I didn't mean nuts to you. I meant to this whole business about race. I grew up in a small town with no blacks at all. A couple of Indians, a handful of Mexicans, that was it as far as minorities went. I got a good education and I doubt it would have been enhanced one smidgen by having some blacks in my classes. I have no ill feelings to anybody except for those individuals who have made “diversity” the most important aspect of education in this country. They, IMHO, have some sort of mental illness.

And so much more.

But what they're not learning is math, english, science, history, etc. in a classroom where the teachers spend 90% of their time dealing with disruptions and the other 10% of their time teaching to the left corner of the bell curve.

Melissa Harris-Perry And Husband Welcome Baby Girl on Valentine’s Day

MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry and her husband James Perry took to Twitter to announce the addition of a new baby girl to her family on Valentine’s Day.

Harris-Perry may have received the Valentine’s Day surprise that tops them all.

The political commentator’s daughter was born on Valentine’s Day and she couldn’t wait to share photos of her bundle of joy with the world.

Melissa and James had a gestational carrier and created their own biological embryos.

Melissa was unsure if she could ever have a shared biological child with her husband due to her hysterectomy, so the new baby girl was a true blessing for the Perrys.

Her husband tweeted a picture of them cradling the baby girl along with the caption, “Here’s the wonderful Valentine’s day gift that @MHarrisPerry & I received yesterday! A beautiful baby girl.”

The Perrys have been married since 2010 and already co-parent Melissa’s daughter from a previous marriage.

The MSNBC talk show host also made headlines back in December after a joke about Mitt Romney’s grandson offended some viewers.

The backlash sparked when Harris-Perry and her guest panelists made jokes about Mitt Romney’s family photo.

Romney’s grandson is an adopted, Black baby and he stuck out in the family photo.

Shortly after the segment aired Harris-Perry issued an apology for the jokes that were said on air and explained that she didn’t mean to offend transracial families.

“I apologize to all families built on loving transracial adoptions who feel I degraded their lives or choices,” she tweeted. “As Black child born into a large white Mormon family I feel familiarity w/ Romney family pic & never meant to suggest otherwise. Therefore, while I meant no offense, I want to immediately apologize to the Romney family for hurting them.”

You may dismiss this as more insane rantings from the queen of tampon earrings.. but it is actually another glimpse into the true liberal agenda.

“you can have political commitments and theological commitments, but your primary commitment as a parent is to make sure that the best educational opportunities are open for that kid.”

A seemingly innocuous statement I would not agree with, but this is only truly radical when coupled with what comes next.

“you are not being indicated as a human being or as an American citizen if you are learning in a single-race classroom.”

I’m not sure she knows what the word ‘indicate’ means, but read this again. You are not a human being, not an American citizen (under the protection of the Constitution) if you are learning in a single race classroom.

Make no mistake, this is a thinly veiled slash at private schools, religious schools, and homeschooling families, the three educational sects that are on average homogeneous.
What Kapo Harris Perry is saying is that educational concerns override any political (the desire to protect your children from leftist indoctrination) or theological (the desire to protect your children from homosexual pedophiles) concerns. BUT she is now saying that in addition to academic components, educational concerns must now include a sort of ‘diversity quota’. If your child is not FORCED into contact with various sexual degenerates, communist peons, as well as every possible race in existence regardless of your educational level, then you are not really an American.

This is the same left that tells us to not see color, and to never mention it. I don’t pass judgement based on skin color, though I may make educated estimations. If a black or Hispanic or Asian kid displays the value set I want to instill in my child, I encourage contact as much as with a white kid. But I do not want a child poisoned by the anti-God left. I don’t want them in a classroom with dopers, gang members, perverts, and left wing activists, being taught to hate the Founders by some 50 year old former domestic terrorist, whatever their color!

Harris Perry is a goose-stepper, plain and simple. Head’s up, dumbass. Nobody else’s kids belong to you or your little ‘communist community’. Go jump off a bridge.

What does “2+2=4” or “light travels at 186,000 miles per second in a vacuum” have to do with race?

With liberals in charge of “education,” it is no wonder we are in such scholastic trouble in this country.

“That said,” she (Melissa Harris-Perry) continued, “I think we do need to start thinking of an integrated classroom as a quality classroom.”

So, under this logic one might conclude that if we "started thinking" of goat feces as fruit salad, the feces would then be delicious.

Now I suppose that if Ms. Harris-Perry could deceive herself into thinking that goat feces were fruit salad, she could also conceivably convince herself that it was in fact tasty. She might munch the goat feces with great gustatory delight, proclaiming to all who might pass by that she was enjoying the most wonderful fruit salad she or anyone else had ever eaten.

Most observers witnessing such a sorry sight, however, would simply say, "Uh, Melissa...you know you're eating goat feces, right?"

Yes, but it's also evolved somewhat. I'm sure that one of this twit's goals for her ideal classroom is to have white students openly and repeatedly confronted, belittled, thrown on guilt trips for the inherent "privilege" conveyed by their skin color.

In an all-white classroom such discussions, even if "facilitated" by the teacher, will be theoretical in nature. Creating artificial racial diversity in the classrooms is a tactic designed to shun those white students who may object into silence. They'll quickly learn to cease any/all objections when their (insert historically oppressed racial/ethnic here) classmates start accusing them of things using terms ending in "ist" for daring to challenge the conventional wisdom.

Tatum believes that it’s a natural process for black youth to self-segregate:
“I think the answer has to do with the child’s transition into adolescence. Adolescents are searching for identity; they’re asking questions like: Who am I in the world?... Who am I ethnically? Who am I racially? and What meaning does this have for how people view me and interact with me?...And as that young person is trying to make sense of his experience, in all likelihood he is going to seek out and try to connect with other people who are having similar experiences.
“As a result, even the young person who has grown up in a multiracial community and had a racially mixed group of friends tends to start to pull away from his non-black friends, his white friends in particular.”

http://www.ascd.org/publications/educational-leadership/dec97/vol55/num04/Why-Are-All-the-Black-Kids-Sitting-Together%C2%A2-A-Conversation-with-Beverly-Daniel-Tatum.aspx

The study, conducted by University of Michigan sociology researchers Siwei Cheng and Yu Xie, suggests that the more options students have in choosing friends, the more likely they are to settle into close friendships with those who have similar racial backgrounds.

http://www.medicaldaily.com/interracial-friendships-less-likely-self-segregation-more-common-larger-schools-245037

“Segregation is by far the most serious in the central cities of the largest metropolitan areas,” the report says, “but it is also severe in central cities of all sizes and suburbs of the largest metro areas, which are now half nonwhite.”

http://www.upi.com/Top_News/US/2014/05/15/Report-West-Virginia-has-least-segregated-schools-in-the-US-New-York-has-most/3101400188780/#ixzz31vwsHOB8

Princeton sociologist Thomas Espenshade and Alexandria Walton Radford found those with the most diverse friendship groups in college were white students. They also found that the poor, rural or working class conservative white student was the most underserved and least represented group in college. The discrimination against white students is discussed here:
