I favor Ted Cruz but I acknowledge that Rand Paul is an effective politician and a brilliant spokesman for his campaign. It seems to me that this is an issue ready-made for Rand Paul which appeals to his natural constituency, a constituency which has proven so hard in this age of left-wing education for conservatives to win over.

Whether named Rand Paul or Ted Cruz, an aggressive candidate can pick up this issue and with it a host of typically a-conservative voters in an age group which Democrats have long regarded to be proprietary. He could put this grotesque regulatory overreach in its proper context, along with the overreach of the IRS against The Tea Party, and the bureaucrats against Nevada ranchers, against oyster farmers, against children selling lemonade, against the homeowners with a puddle in their backyard, against the intrusions of the Obamacare regulators into our very body cavities as well as our wallets. The list is endless and growing every day.

If conservatism stands for liberty, an articulate candidate can stand for liberty and make a case against tyranny better than Sam Adams could make in his time and turn a bunch of sunshine computer nerds and the rest of the nation as well into winter soldiers.
