My good FRiend, you are 100% wrong in this. The NFL set Sam up..they’ve perfectly screwed him ( pun intended). Consider threee things we can absolutely agree on:
1. The NFL knew that Sam wasn’t good enough to be drafter. If he wasn’t openly gay, no one would be writing/talking one word about him. 2.The NFL knew that if Sam wasn’t drafted, there would be a media s**t storm. The league would be accused of homophobia, etc...you can write the script.

3. The league, and the players, really don’t want an openly gay, and publicity seeking player, in the locker room, and in the league. Every game would have to deal with the “story”

So the NFL arranged to have Sam drafted in the 7th and last round, by the Rams. “Nice,” convenient story line..he played his college ball in the same state, Missouri. All warm and fuzzy...

EXCEPT FOR ONE THING:

The Rams have, by general consensus, among the top 3-5 defensive lines in the entire league. Therefore, Sam’s chance of making the team are greatly reduced..actually..they’re just about impossible. They’re are about 15 NFL teams that could use some D-Line help.

So Sam goes to the Rams training camp..he’ll be one of the last ones cut..after having been given ample time to demonstrate he’s not good enough to play in the NFL..and by then it’ll be too late for any other teams to bring him into camp for a tryout..

So, Sam’s finished..kaput...and the NFL’s problem is solved. Nicely done.

One more thing: When the players start full contact practice..and during the pre-season games..the O-Line players have an extra incentive to make Sam look bad.. they can ensure he’s off the team, out of the league..by shutting him down on the field..

His NFL combine scores were not even middle of the road, they were pretty bad. Does not have a vertical jump, does not have much strength, and a crappy 40 time when grouped with other DEs.

Not the best thing going into training camp. If he were serious, the only type of hype he’d be doing is how to workout 15 hours a day...like the rest of his competition, in hopes of getting a spot.

He may not be the one in charge of this circus, so I would cut him a bit of slack. But if he does not realize that the NFL is composed of College Football Gods...he will do what other arrogant college Gods have done...get run over by a running back that took the NFL like it was the next level and would do anything to run over someone who still thought they were in college.
