JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Authorities say a conservative Mississippi blogger went into a nursing home, photographed the bedridden wife of Republican U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran without permission and posted an image online as part of an anti-Cochran video.
Rose Cochran, 72, has lived at St. Catherine's Village since 2000 and has dementia.
Clayton Thomas Kelly, 28, of Pearl, was arrested Friday and charged with a felony, exploitation of a vulnerable adult, Madison police said. Kelly remained in the Madison County Detention Center on Saturday on $100,000 bond. It wasn't immediately clear whether he has an attorney.
Police Sgt. Robert Sanders wouldn't identify Rose Cochran as the person who was photographed. Cochran attorney Don Clark said an unauthorized photo of Rose Cochran was taken in her nursing home room, near her bedside, and it was posted briefly online as part of a video.

FWIW, I think that Cochrane and his EA are making the best of what is a lousy situation..he's still married to his wife, he provides for her financially..his EA isn't married, and she worked for him for many years before his wife was institutionalized..it's not like he was Wilbur Mills putting his stripper girlfriend Fanny Foxxe on the office payroll. Look, I want Cochran gone..but this is a chap shot..they were open about the relationship....however..he should have known better in that she should have resigned as his EA once they became a couple...it just doesn't pass the smell test..and that's the problem with those who stay too long inside the Beltway..they think they're above it all...
It's open knowledge in DC that Cochran and his 'live in' are more than just work associates. The inference has been that it's OK because his wife has dementia and is in a home.
The kicker is that all these overseas 'business trips' sure look like pleasure boondoggles. And THAT inference has been ALL OVER the local news cycles for the past several days. So THIS little shenanigan CONVENIENTLY takes the heat OFF Cochran for the inferred abuse of public money taking his sweetie on around the world trips.
And no, I'm not a huge McDaniel supporter. I support him becuase he ISN'T Cochran. Cochran is dirty. Supports amnesty, voted for all the tax increases/stimulii that he possibly could but for me the nail in the coffin was his voting for a renewal of the START treaty in a lame duck session after the last election. A treaty that allows the RUSSIANS to inspect our super secret facilities.

It is obvious that it is in McDaniel’s interest to issue such a statement as political insurance. What does it say to his supporters who are on this thread making asses of themselves?
I don’t know, I don’t have a dog in this fight and wouldn’t recognize either candidate if they took turns running over me with a truck.
He’s a womanizer. The congresscritters in DC who are NOT womanizers could probably fit around a 4 person card table.
I’m sure if anyone defeats Cochran in the primary it’s a matter of time before they are behaving in the same way.
The wife undoubtely knew of his womanizing. It isn’t as though there isn’t gossip in DC. Most of the wives know about the extracurricular activities. It’s part of being a politicians wife.
My beef with Cochran is supporting the LOST treaty, the START treaty and amnesty. I really don’t CARE where he puts his privates. Or with whom. I CARE when he votes against the best interests of this nation. Which he does with great regularity.
I support civility, something that is in short supply on this thread.

I no longer live in NJ. I moved back home about 10 years ago. I keep the NJ location because I still have friends and acquaintances on the NJ board.

Are you sure this isn’t Dem related? It doesn’t’sound like a conservative trait to me.
Let’s look at it analytically:
1. The GOPe took a drubbing in this week’s primaries.
2. Cochran is in a real horse race for the first time in a long time.
3. The past few days news cycles in the state have been full of Cochran taking his sweetie on overseas boondoggles on the public’s dime.
4. Many in the GOPe depend on Cochran’s reliable votes for any and all liberal funding schemes they need him to fund. If he loses, they are in danger of losing that reliable vote.
I’m not sure Cochran has the ability to do anything like this anymore. His handlers won’t even let him debate McDaniel. He’s pushing 80 for heavens sake. I would NOT put the GOPe above doing this though. Not. At. All. They HAVE to win this seat to maintain the status quo.
You don’t think this is a hoax done by the Cochran? Freepers nearly universally say incidents like this against blacks or gays are hoaxs. It wouldn’t be fair not to say the same thing about a progressive like Cochran.
