Have you seen the movie “Gaslight”? If you have, you’ll know exactly what this means. The Obama Administration and the Mainstream Media are doing to us what Claude Rains did to Ingrid Bergman in the movie.
I remember the days before Limbaugh, the strange feeling that you lived with when what you saw or sensed didn’t match what you were being told on all sides. I remember how like-minded people would lean in close and talk in a low voice if they didn’t know you, feeling you out to see if you shared the same insane ideas as they.
The advent of Limbaugh was a godsend to a lot of people, to hear someone saying openly what they believed, and saying it fearlessly and with good humor. It isn’t necessary to agree with every last thing Limbaugh says to recognize what a difference he made when he came onto the scene.
Something similar happened with the advent of the internet and FR in particular where it became possible for people to circumvent the noise machine and trade ideas directly, debunk the noise machine when it needed debunking (which is almost every day) and find independent sources of information. I used to haunt the newsstands buying out-of-town newspapers to compare the coverage, and buy out-of-country newspapers for the same reason, it was my habit for years to buy several papers a week digging out the odd fact that explained what the others hid.
And I noticed how, once you knew, you could see how the others would step around the inconvenient fact... meaning they knew.
Now that I have better access to information I see it even more clearly and the sense of disconnect between what I know and what I am told is pervasive, its to the point that I have learned not to believe anything I read in the press without first comparing it to multiple publications... and I can do it so much more easily than before.
The sad thing, though, is that I realize that aside from my FR pals here, almost no one else does. They accept what they hear. They may or may not believe it, they almost never completely believe it, but they accept it because they have no other source. And they don’t want to pay the cost of being counted among the insane.
This blogger must be reading Laz’ posts. I think he just posted or wrote about this (Gaslighting) a few days ago.
Thankfully I now realize that I’m being gaslighted.
Does that mean I’m not crazy? :-)
Shouldn't that be "gaslit"?

I saw this titled thread and I thought I might see a lot of potty humor...
But, alas, no...
It had nothing to do with what we used to do after a big pot full of beans for dinner...
Even thought it might be appropriate, considering the topic...
;-)
