Anybody talk about how gracious and kind Jesus Christ this Sunday?

Why yes, I'm sure they did, right here on Free Republic. Was he on a talk show?

Was he on a talk show?

Well, I asked if any of the Sunday talk shows listed talked about the grace and kindness of Jesus Christ.

I saw two talk shows this morning that did just that. One was live streaming worship and praise of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords at Lakewood Church from Houston, TX. Joel Osteen talked all about the love and grace of Jesus Christ.

Then we watched another talk show taped from Singapore. The talker from there was Joseph Prince talking all about total and complete salvation and unconditional love in Jesus Christ.

Good stuff. Uplifting. Wonderful way to start the week.

If you look in the little box in the upper right-hand corner of the forum page...right under News/Activism, you will find a category named “religion”.

If you go there, you will find all kinds of religion topics, and a bunch of like-minded people enthusiastically posting there.

I know. It really wasn’t a serious comment except possibly to say that maybe once a week, if something other than politics would prevail, maybe everything else would get a little better.

Everything is politics....even religion.

(See: Cafeteria Catholics, ECLA, the queering of religion etc etc etc)

Yeah, except I wasn't really taking about "religion" either. As you say, religion is no relief from politics.

Talking more about experiencing the life, love, and grace that is in Jesus Christ. Cures what ails you.

The red states tell you more about those that wanted Obama out than Romney in.

Yeah we talk politics here. If the shows were on Wednesday, it would be called the “Wednesday Morning Talk Show Thread”

I talk about politics day and night here. I enjoy talking about it.

I think my point is, society would be better off if it could give politics a rest once in a while in lieu of something much better, the byproduct itself being improvement of societies ills.

But many in society and popular culture seem to have kicked Jesus Christ out of their lives and mainstream activities. The doctor has been kicked out of the hospital. I guess I'm lamenting that.

Nope. Wishing the Sunday Morning Talk Shows sometimes had what I’m talking about.

Yeah, except for maybe Fox news who have a few good guys on there like Judge Napolitano.

Once upon a time, "profits", even in the newsroom, took a back seat to faith on Sundays and America didn't do too badly. Good luck telling even Fox News that today - today it's a different deal. Well, sometimes when you you hold so tightly, you lose it all, as American society seems to be doing.

I was just having a conversation on another thread concerning how the young people have been turned away from abortion, but not by religious arguments. By and large, this generation doesn’t go to Church.

The other person was indicating that the same thing couldn’t be done regarding the opposition to the queer agenda. I disagreed.

Well, you bring up two of many things that have emerged as problems in our society because "we don't need God." In a sense all the yakety-yak-yak on Sunday morning would be better served to focus on the One who could so greatly help us.

The truth is, we need Him very badly.

I would say most of the Freepers are Christians, and probably attend church, including most on this thread.

You can pray and contemplate all you want, but God also gave us intellect and willpower to overcome evil. It has been stated that God helps those who help themselves.

Much that happens here is pushback to the RATaganda generated on these shows.

Ignoring it and letting it stand unopposed is not an option.

You go to church and sing every Sunday, don’t you?

Is that what our Founders did? Is that what George Washington did at Valley Forge? Is that the genesis of our country? By choosing one or the other? Your mutually exclusive choice of active faith OR active intellect is certainly not reflective of how America became the most free, most prosperous and powerful nation on earth.

Would that we had more active faith that would rightly energize and focus our much dissipated intellect and willpower.

Is that what our Founders did?

Yes.

Is that what George Washington did at Valley Forge?

Yes.

Is that the genesis of our country?

Yes.

By choosing one or the other?

No, who said anything about that?

Your mutually exclusive choice of active faith OR active intellect blah blah blah...

I never said any such thing, don't put words in my mouth. The word "also" does not preclude either concept but rather embraces both of them.
