Russian Orthodox Church, Politicians Criticize Pro-Gay Eurovision 2014 Cross-Dressing Winner

The Russian Orthodox Church and several politicians have strongly condemned last week's Eurovision winner, a bearded Austrian cross-dresser who promotes gay rights, and have suggested that they will create their own pop competition.

"The last Eurovision contest's results exhausted our patience," Communist Party deputy Valery Rashkin said about the winner of Europe's top pop competition, 25-year-old Conchita Wurst.

"We must leave this competition. We cannot tolerate this endless madness."

He added that he would like to see the creation of "Voice of Eurasia," which would invite other countries from the former Soviet Union to participate, according to AFP news agency.

A spokesman for the Russian Orthodox Church has also made strong remarks against Wurst.

"The process of the legalization of that to which the Bible refers to as nothing less than an abomination is already long not news in the contemporary world," Vladimir Legoyda, chairman of the Russian Orthodox Church's information department, said according Interfax news agency. "Unfortunately, the legal and cultural spheres are moving in a parallel direction, to which the results of this competition bear witness."

Wurst, whose real name is Tom Neuwirth, has spoken out in favor of gay rights, and after being awarded the glass trophy last week said:

"This night is dedicated to everyone who believes in peace and freedom. You know who you are. We are unity, and we are unstoppable."

The singer also reportedly later addressed the same message to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who last year signed controversial bills in Russia prohibiting the promotion and distribution of pro-gay material.

While Russia has been largely criticized by the international community for its stance on gay issues, its politicians have said that they will not be pressured into accepting Western moral norms.

"Conchita Wurst's Eurovision victory symbolizes the complete collapse of the European Union's moral values," said the Slavic Committee in a statement. "We do not need Europe!"

"There's no limit to our outrage. It's the end of Europe. It has turned wild. They don't have men and women any more. They have 'it'," added nationalist politician Vladimir Zhirinovsky to Rossiya-1 state television.

The annual pop contest is watched by millions across the continent, and invites countries to cast votes on the various acts.

Other Russians, such as pop star Filipp Kirkorov who produced the country's entry in Eurovision this year, took a different view on the controversy, and suggested that Wurst's victory should call on Russians to reconsider homophobic opinions.

"Maybe this is a kind of protest against some of our views in Russia. Maybe we should have a think. Maybe we shouldn't have such a categorical attitude to people of different sexual orientations," Kirkorov told Rossiya-1.

"In a way it probably is a challenge from Europe to us, but let's respect the winner. People don't judge a winner."

The Russian Orthodox Church makes all the statements the Catholic Church should be making, but is afraid to. The victory of this freak was the ultimate sign of Europe’s death and descent into madness.

Oh what a hottie! We must AFFIRM HER—so glad Russky Orthos didn’t fall for it. Everyone knows a gay person —big deal. I don’t want to see them persecuted BUT the need for affirmation personally, publicly and politically makes many folks who have less of a problem with homosexuality (from the religious point of view) much less sympathetic towards them. And besides the fact-—Yes Virginia, there is a GAY MAFIA.

Conchita is not the first transexual to win Eurovision.

In 1998, Dana International won for the Eurovision Israel ( Yes, Israel ) for the song — Diva.

The Orthodox Community was up in arms to no avail. There was more celebration in Israel the drowned out the protest.

See his/her performance here:

Here’s the European and world press interviewing Conchita after he won (There are reporters from everywhere in the world but I don’t see any Russian reporter):

I am completely stunned at what has happened to Western civilization - how right and wrong have artificially changed places.

I am also stunned to say that I am in agreement with the statements made by these Communist leaders in regard to “gay rights” and that this whole issue is absolute “madness”.

God’s judgement of us is at the door. He would have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah if He didn’t. And, I don’t say that with malice or joy. I grieve for our country and how lost it is.

Lord, we don’t deserve mercy. But, please, give us revival in our land. Convict our leaders and our people of our sins and our arrogance that we may turn back to You in total dependence. In Jesus’ Name I pray.

I think Dana is a transsexual, whereas Cnchita is a drag queen. That is to say, Dana was deliberately castrated and hormonally disordered with the hopes that his maimed body would look female, whereas Conchita is still anatomically and hormonally male. Conchita uses female pronouns only while in his drag persona.

I realize it's kind of a picky techhnicality, but as I understand it, Conchita (Tom Neuwirth) is not a so-called trans-woman, but is a gay male drag queen.

I'm perplexed by this mishmash, for sure.

"There's no limit to our outrage. It's the end of Europe. It has turned wild. They don't have men and women any more. They have 'it'," added nationalist politician Vladimir Zhirinovsky to Rossiya-1 state television.

They left off the best part of Zhirinovsky's quote: "Fifty years ago the Soviet army occupied Austria. We made a mistake in freeing Austria. We should have stayed,"

Sad this is, after seeing this, he has a point.

Growing up I used to watch Eurovision. Where have the likes of Abba, Julio Iglesias... gone? I'm glad I left the continent 34 years ago!

Filipp Kirkorov is as queer as the day is long...

BTW, EuroVision was more boring than usual this year. None of the songs deserve any play-time on the radio.
