White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough defended the White House reaction to the scandals emerging from Veterans Administration (VA) hospitals around the country, saying on CBS' "Face the Nation" that President Obama "is madder than hell - I've got the scars to prove it."
In an interview with CBS News Chief White House Correspondent, McDonough said that VA Secretary Eric Shinseki is the right person to lead the investigation into reports that veterans have been put on secret waiting lists to hide the number of people who were not being treated within the VA's goal of 14 days. Several Republican lawmakers and The American Legion, the nation's largest veterans group, have called on Shinseki to resign.
"General Shinseki continues to work this every single day...and he will continue to work these issues until they're fixed," McDonough said. "The president will continue to demand that he and all of us who work for him continue to fix these things until they are functioning the way that our veterans believe they should and...so that they get the services and the benefits that they have earned."
In a separate interview on "Face the Nation," American Legion National Commander Daniel Dellinger stood by the organization's insistence that Shinseki should step down. "He should be coming forward with the same leadership he showed in the military as a four-star general into the VA and it just hasn't happened. The accountability just hasn't been there and I think it is systematic of the entire system," Dellinger said. He said that under similar circumstances the CEO of a major corporation would have stepped down or a member of the military would have been relieved of duty.

He is mad so now everyone shut up about it. Nothing to see here.
"Wilma, I promise you, whatever scum did this not one man on this force will rest for one minute until he's behind bars. Now let's grab a bite to eat."
The only thing I believe Obama is madder than is the friggin Mad Hatter! He is the angry incompetent Queen screaming off with their heads at all the wrong times.
what, bite marks on yer arse??? feh...
The only reason Obama is mad is it makes him look
bad.
“Mad as hell” is just another one of O’s patented throw away lines. Kind of like “red line”, “keep your doctor” or “most transparent presidency”. It really has no meaning in itself. The idea is to mollify his base long enough that they forget the incident, which in some cases is seconds.
I see Denis has a sense of humor. That’s fine, but I’d be more impressed if he/she intended to do something substantive about the problem, like eliminating the department and replacing it with taxpayer-funded vouchers that allowed vets to choose their own insurance provider and/or medical treatment.
Ever more taqiyaa
It is plain to see that the Democrats are stalling the Veterans to use the money to buy votes.
He’s so mad that he’ll insist Manning go to the head of the line for sex change, while another 50 vets die from delayed surgical procedures.
He is the right person to fire, likely needs jail time...he is NOT the right person to lead the investigation.
So mad, he hasn’t talked about it publicallh one time! Now that’s mad!
He’s so mad that Reggie Love was just flown in on Marine One for some 1-on-1 “relaxation therapy” to calm him down.
What’s this? An angry Muslim??

The universe is a better place whenever President Obama
becomes the maddest person in the world about something.
Oh, Sir, who will step-up to be our maddest person when you are no longer in offie?
Could there ever be another who could be mad enough?
The nation waits.........
I agree with you...he's mad because it might make the government takeover of everything a little harder. I don't for a second think he gives a damn about the vets.
