Ted Cruz is the Vice Chairman for Grassroots Outreach of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (“NRSC”). It is through that appointment that the NRSC hoped to patch up its differences with conservatives.
Instead, it is more and more clear the NRSC is both at war with those groups who support Ted Cruz and at war with those candidates most likely to assist Ted Cruz in the Senate.
From the relationship, the NRSC gets the veneer of working with conservatives and Ted Cruz gets beaten up at every opportunity by the NRSC and its staff and outside consultants.
Here for example, is an NRSC paid consultant subtly attacking Cruz. There have been plenty out in the open in the past. Likewise, the NRSC worked against Ben Sasse in Nebraska, going so far as to invite lobbyists over to their building to fund Shane Osborn’s campaign.
In Mississippi, the NRSC is on a witch hunt to tie Chris McDaniel’s campaign to some nut who overstepped the bounds of propriety. Now that McDaniel is ahead in most polls, the NRSC is attacking him savagely, the groups that support him, and relying on a handful of reporters who write negative stories about Cruz to write negative stories about McDaniel.
The goals Cruz supports are not supported by the NRSC. The candidates most likely to support Cruz are most likely to be opposed by the NRSC. There is no longer a justification for Cruz to be affiliated with the NRSC in a Vice Chairman’s position.
Frankly, if Cruz won’t go to Mississippi and endorse McDaniel, the least he could do for his own freaking side is publicly repudiate the NRSC.

I guess we can add to the complaints against the other side that they certainly don't hesitate to criticize other Republicans--even in publicly vile terms--and they're content to break their commitments.
These facts show them to be unworthy.

It’s because the GOPe are just liberals that don’t like paying taxes.
The RNC is still trying to force committeeman Dave Agema to resign for telling the truth about gay marriage and worse yet, telling the truth about the GOP lying about the issue.
Its sad to see Ted Cruz on the sidelines in Kentucky and South Carolina when he should be in there to oppose McConnell and Graham.
No --- it is time for more conservatives like Ted Cruz to join the NRSC and committees like it. It is time for conservatives like Cruz to stand and fight to take back the Republican Party, not run away.
I agree but its hard to get conservatives to even consider getting out to state conventions and taking over the policy making wing of the party like the RNC.

Matt Bevin has little or no chance against Senator McConnell and Lindsay Graham seems to be cruising toward re-nomination.
Better to expend energy in other places, where it will be more effective.
I can only find a single poll putting McDaniel ahead by one point, while others show Cochran up substantially - though all of these are well over a month old so there could be newer ones. I searched but cannot find what Erickson is talking about - if someone has a list of all of these multiple polls showing McDaniel ahead that Erickson is referencing please advise.
Erickson is also glossing over the fact that apparently the McDaniel campaign was making efforts to distance themselves from the arrest of the blogger who went into Mrs. Cochran's nursing home room and called the Cochran campaign to offer condolences before news of the reason for the arrest had even been made public. Things like this can be decisive factors in what determines the outcome of a race, so it is going to be a major issue, whether this is fair or not fair...and may be the curtain call on the McDaniel campaign.
The NRSC members are the sitting incumbent Republican Senators.
Erick Erickson is such a fat self-consumed putz. As if he thinks he can tell Ted Cruz what to do.
Bevin never had any real chance of winning and especially with the self-destruction he has engaged in. His campaign has been horribly run from the very start - a pretty embarrassing effort quite frankly. The cockfighting incident was just the capper.
Graham is the worst of the incumbents and is from a very conservative state. There is still time to oust Graham as that primary is not until June.
Right - there is no substance here and just sounds like pouting. It does not make logical sense for multiple reasons for Cruz to go out opposing his incumbent colleagues - both because he would just be creating more friction in the caucus and because these battles are much less likely to be won than the open seats - such as Nebraska, where an excellent candidate in Ben Sasse just won his primary - not only a good conservative but one with a good head on his shoulders that doesn’t have foot-in-mouth disease, the same in Oklahoma with T.W. Shannon. Those guys will be excellent editions to the Senate and excellent conservatives - and younger, fresh faces for the GOP. Those are huge successes.
Is there any real reason that every Cruz thread has to start with a screen and a half, of useless spam?
We have seen those quotes enough times, couldn’t you just combine your ping list and the flag, into a smaller first postm if you need to personalize every thread?
Cruz should do what CRUZ thinks is best for himself and not worry what others say or tell him to do. He is a leader and should make up his own mind.....
I think he will, Cruz is a bold and confidant guy.
