Good news, citizens! All is well! The White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough sat down with Major Garrett on CBS this morning to clarify once and for all that the recent termination at the VA was absolutely not, in any way shape or form, even in the slightest, to be construed as as a scapegoat who was about to retire anyway taking the hit for the VA scandals.
DENIS MCDONOUGH: Well, Secretary Shinseki accepted Dr. Petzels resignation this afternoon. He was due to retire early next month and obviously there has been a nomination made for his replacement. I leave to Rick the explanation of his decision, but there is no question that this is a termination of his job there before he was planning to go.
MAJOR GARRETT, CBS NEWS: So the President is unhappy?
DM: I think you heard what Secretary Shinseki said yesterday, which was that hes mad as hell. And the President is madder than hell. And Ive got the scars to prove it, given the briefings that Ive given the President, the conversations that he and Rick and I have had on these matters. So is one step, as important as it is, like this one sufficient? Well continue to look at that. But at the same time that were looking at accountability we want to be able to continue to perform and provide our veterans the services that they have earned.
Im not sure, but did we just hear a version of, what more do you want from us? We fired the guy. Nothing to see here, move along.
The President is madder than hell about something, but from the tone that McDonogh is taking, it sounds like its because hes being distracted from golfing his many other important duties.
How f****** clueless are these people?
His scars from briefings?
Men are blown in half, horrifically burned, missing arms, legs, eyes...they can't get treated.
His scars, my a$$...
Dude......... that was. uhh like last year..... dude.
Complete joke. There is no accountability in government.
No, they didn’t fire him. Dr. Petzel’s retirement has been in the works for over a year now. Unlike most other political appointees, VHA Undersecretary’s work under four-year contracts, and his expired in February. As customary, he agreed to stay on in an acting capacity until a commission selected a successor (which can take up to two years!) But with all of these scandals breaking, and after he and Shinseki got grilled on Thursday, he decided to just get out now. Obama’s people are now trying to claim they fired him after the fact. More dishonesty from the most corrupt administration in history.
A real housecleaning would have involved the firing of the head of the VA, plus EVERYBODY involved. If you want to have a lasting impact, fire a thousand people, everybody who got any sort of bonus for concealing substandard care. Everybody who knew about it and didn't report it. Make it so nobody will go along with this sort of crap ever again.
“Accountability”
Shhh....That’s a bad word!
Every room in the WH should have video and audio feed to the world. You’d see and hear these clowns laughing about how they pulled another one over on the masses saying, “What difference does it make? Those troops were just cannon fodder to begin with.”
Said “termination” was nothing more than window dressing to make odumbo look athourative, the POS that he is.
They probably had him sign a nondisclosure statement and will ship him off to Turkey as a condition of his, “retirement”.
Fellow veterans,
The White House has just made another delicous plate of crap sandwich, and expects us to eat it with a smile.
“We fired the guy that makes the coffee! What more do you people want?”
