Obama's War on Coal, on the ground in W.Va.
The Economist ^ | 5/17/14 | Lexington

Alas for Ms Tennant, nothing can hide her big problem with coal: it divides Democrats. The party’s green supporters hate this dirtiest of fuels. Many would like to see it taxed or regulated so fiercely that it stays in the ground. New federal carbon curbs are expected next January, making it uneconomic to build coal-fired power stations. Blue-collar Democrats in coal states are aghast. As a union official in Farmington said: “Coal built the middle class here.” Plenty of big-city or college-campus Democrats don’t care.

Carbon fraud will play second fiddle to socialists needs, I believe Europe burns more coal now than it ever has because of the green weenies ban on nukes.

It is hard to find sympathy for people who voted for their own Economic Suicide.

These people were warned what would happen if they supported Democrats. The UMW even had a one-day Wildcat Strike in support of Obama.

Stupid has consequences. Now the bill for it is due.

One of the fundamental assumptions used by the Ideological Left is that the use of the Volcker Rule is useful to the Ideological Left.

Very few other Intellectual Economists can boast of a more inclusive circular reasoning economic policy rule.

Economist, and award-winning, Intellectual Paul Volker’s “Rule” can be simplified and defined as follows:

“The systematic Federal Over-Regulation of a private financial entity in order to stimulate financial failure until a financial failure threshold is exceeded that insures that the financial debt of that private entity exceeds what can be recovered in a court-managed bankruptcy.”

The Volker Rule can also be applied to all USA Governments, Local, County, State and Federal, for the primary purpose of increasing Regulations, fines. taxes, and fear of additional future Government oppression, of course.

Thus, an expanded definition of The Volcker Rule is as follows:

“The Federally Over-Regulated stimulation of financial debt owned by private businesses, as well as Local, State, and Federal Government programs and other spending centers, (commonly called “Bureaus”), until the financial debt of said private or Govewrnment entity exceeds what can be recovered in a court-managed bankruptcy.”

Abolition of the Volcker Rule would remove The Left’s Ideological support of all known, Marxist Re-distribution of Wealth Ponzi Schemes, commonly promoted by the Left as “Safety Nets,” including the following on this partial list:

* Social Security Administration Programs
* Disability payments
* Unemployment payments
* Medicare
* Medicaid
* Obamacare
* Aid to Dependent Children
* Rent subsidies
* Hospital Emergency Room Payments
* School Lunch Program
* Food Stamp Program
* Federal Aid to Education
* Federal Housing Loan Guarantees
* Federal Highway Funding
* Federal election funding.

Obama and his enabling, VERY gullible, Doormat Republicans, especially Boehner and Cantor, have proven beyond a smidgen of a doubt that the 102 year old Federal Re-distribution Welfare Entitlement State must be ABOLISHED in order to financially save our Republic.

It is time, - - - time for a change in 2014.

Funny and sad at the same time...but that is called “liberalism” these days.

‘Alas for Ms Tennant, nothing can hide her big problem...’

...which is that she is an intellectual lightweight and staggeringly shallow.

We are, after all, talking about a person whose calling card is, to this day, being the first female Mountaineer mascot. Whee. Of course, this is a state that for many decades relied on name recognition, a Democrat party affiliation, and vague promises of ‘fighting for coal and seniors’ as the keys to electoral victory. Just ask Jay Rockefeller.

Tennant inexplicably became Secretary of State, giving us another demonstration of the Peter Principle. Her term has been marked by the kind of anodyne nothingness mid-tier bureaucrats lavish in. Unfortunately, Tennant believes her boilerplate to be meaningful and has cranked up the Trite Wagon to transport her through various campaigns including this one. She describes herself, in all apparent seriousness, as a Game Changer. What the game might be and what she will change about it is not made clear - probably because she doesn’t know herself.

If Joe Manchin is becoming a laughingstock at home and in DC with his daily fence-sitting pronouncements, Tennant is even more hilarious in her laborious evasions of any question related to Obamacare; she refuses to even climb up on the fence. She and her even more clueless campaign handlers will repeat that ‘She believes in health care for West Virginians.’ That’s a relief. For a minute we thought she might support leaving them in the street to die of exposure, thirst and hunger.

But these evasions will only hurt her chances which are already slim thanks to the state’s resolve against Obamacare, and against a president and a party fully committed to destroying the coal industry. The state’s vigilance on gun rights lost Gore the state and is still, no matter what you are told about coal, the top issue among the electorate. Capito is a formidable opponent and exposes Tennant’s aforementioned lack of substance almost without trying.

Tennant is already resorting to challenging the frontrunner to a series of debates - a sure sign of desperation. In a way, it would be good entertainment value to watch Tennant fumble through one debate, let alone five of them. Would her deck of cliche flash cards run out before the moderator’s questions?

It’s really not a war on coal,

it’s a war on affordable energy.

The elites don’t like it that the peasants aren’t freezing in the dark.

Coal miners union having problem with dear leader after he turned on them. I hope they win but it will take electing conservatives and I don’t think they have it in them. Joe Manchin seems to be as close as they can come and I don’t think he can buck his own party....just more reach across the isle B.S.

In stump speeches he said he'd get rid of coal, the next day the miners were cheering him?

wtf were they thinking? Or just listening to the union rep?

We need to decouple the power grid and let the big cities survive on the types of power they support, meaning no coal, nuclear, oil or gas fired power plants output should go into the big cities.

I wonder how long the environmental movement would last?

Obama didn’t win a single county in West Virginia during the general election. The problem is that Democrats in the state run as liberal Repubs or as an Independent then after being elected they go to D.C. and vote along party lines supporting the damned executive branch which in turns destroys what little good jobs we have here.
P.S. Keith Judd a convicted felon from (Texas) got 41% of the Democrat vote in 2012 Primary here in WV. Judd actually won in 10 of the counties. Many Dim’s don’t even like Obama here.
