Dear FRiends,
We need your continuing support to keep FR on the air.
As you know, FR is funded solely by contributions made by liberty loving people like you who enjoy and use it.
We are beholden to no political party, no advertisers, no sugar daddies, no corporate string pullers, no government subsidies, no outside influences.
We are user-funded, fiercely independent and enjoy our freedom to speak openly and plainly in the support of liberty.
But we cannot exist without you.
If you have not yet made your donation, today would be an excellent day to do so.
Every donation counts no matter how big or small. If you can donate $5, $10, $20, $50, $100 or more, it would be greatly appreciated.
Your loyal support makes Free Republic possible and your continuing participation makes FR the number one, independent, pro-life, pro-family, pro-small government, pro-defense, grassroots conservative forum on the Net!!
And we're going to need FR now more than ever to combat the current crop of Marxists and progressives who have infested our government and public institutions and who are dead set on destroying the final remnants of our cherished constitution and our precious God-given liberty!!

Make it a monthly if you can. We have some very generous FReeper sponsors kicking in an extra ten bucks for every new monthly signed up. We already have 312 new monthly donors this quarter.
Or send in a hundred dollars or more per quarter and join I_be_tc's growing list of 300 Club patriots. I_be_tc sends in $100 per quarter and challenges 300 others to do the same. And we have received 130 donations of $100 or more so far this quarter. If we could get 300 FReepers to send in $100 per quarter, these FReepathons would complete much faster.
Help keep freedom alive!!
Thank you all very much!!
God bless.
None of them go out?
Computers were followed by new software every day, narrowing deadlines, pretty much finished off any artistic value. Nowadays its not unusual to find spelling and grammar errors and ads that make no sense.
Why should they?
It’s my understanding that most cat owners allow their cats access to the outdoors. I don’t own cats, so..
Boston isn’t too awful, although it’s far from perfect.
“Like many major American cities, Boston has seen a great reduction in violent crime since the early 1990s. Boston’s low crime rate since the 1990s has been credited to the Boston Police Department’s collaboration with neighborhood groups and church parishes to prevent youths from joining gangs, as well as involvement from the United States Attorney and District Attorney’s offices. This helped lead in part to what has been touted as the “Boston Miracle”. Murders in the city dropped from 152 in 1990 (for a murder rate of 26.5 per 100,000 people) to just 31not one of them a juvenilein 1999 (for a murder rate of 5.26 per 100,000).[120]
In the 2000s, however, the annual murder count has fluctuated by as much as 50% compared with the year before, with 60 murders in 2002, followed by just 39 in 2003, 61 in 2004, and 73 in 2005. In 2008 there were 62 reported homicides.[121] Although the figures are nowhere near the high-water mark set in 1990, the aberrations in the murder rate have been unsettling for many Bostonians and have prompted discussion over whether the Boston Police Department should reevaluate its approach to fighting crime.[120][121][122]”

It is my impression that most American cats are indoors these days.
Providence, Rhode Island is another city we often visit. Both Boston and Providence are liberal cities:
“Compared to the national average, Providence has an average rate of violent crime and higher rate[64] of property crime per 100,000 inhabitants.[65] In 2010, there were 15 murders, down from 2009’s 24.[66] In 2010, Providence fared better regarding violent crime than most of its peer cities: Springfield, Massachusetts, a city with approximately 20,000 fewer residents than Providence, reported 15 murders in 2009 (i.e., the same number of homicides as Providence, but a slightly higher rate per capita);[67] New Haven, Connecticut and Hartford, Connecticut, cities with approximately 50,000 fewer people than Providence, reported, respectively, 24 and 26 murders in 2010, significantly higher murder rates per capita than Providence.[68][69] The police chief asserted that Providence’s violence was not stranger-to-stranger, but relationship driven.[70] The pattern of violent crime was highly specific by neighborhood with vast majority of the murders taking place in the poorer sections of Providence, such as Olneyville, Elmwood, South Providence and the West End.[71]”

I don’t know why neither city is more crime-ridden, but both have a small-town feeling and sense of community that some other cities lack.
Our neighbors all have outdoor cats. Dogs are allowed to run free in this town as well, except on trash pickup days.
Lovely pic.
Yes. Our previous vet was strongly for keeping cats indoors.
