Congratulations, class of 2014: You’re totally screwed

Welcome to the wide world, Class of 2014. You have by now noticed the tremendous consignment of debt that the authorities at your college have spent the last four years loading on your shoulders. It may interest you to know that the average student-loan borrower among you is now $33,000 in debt, the largest of any graduating class ever. According to a new study by the Pew Research Center, carrying that kind of debt will have certain predictable effects. It will impede your ability to accumulate wealth, for example. You will also borrow more for other things than people without debt, and naturally you will find your debt level growing, not shrinking, as the years pass.

$100K in debt for a Wymyns Studies degree and no job. But be happy that you going to school and paying tuition kept a bunch of professors making well into the six figures for teaching 2 or 3 classes per week for 8 months.

Only question is which Party is going to rake in their votes by proposing a loan forgiveness scheme? (and yes, some Republicans are actually thinking about it)

That is one meandering diatribe!

At first, you think the author is going to point out the obvious causation between more student loans and more costly education. But no!

Just when he tells you what doesn’t cause higher tuition, whammy! He says education sucks because of adjuncts. What was that other point I was making? Oh, nevermind.

Why are kids in SUCH a rush... you are young and healthy with lots of time ahead of you.

Gee!

I left HS and worked for two years in a factory... Then, When I started college, I had some money to work with and no crying need to borrow.

I'm holding up on the sympathy here. 2014 graduates, in general, are a core constituent of the useful idiots that got us obummer.

The best advice I have for them is "Careful what you wish for...you may get it."

No problem...they can simply take out more loans and go back to school for more advanced degrees.

These youngsters with skulls full of mush probalby haven’t even thought about the interest rates on their loans. They won’t even be able to pay the interest, much less the principle.

You may laugh, but I've heard people say that very course of action is the way to go...

Too bad they can't get degrees in common sense, or even critical thinking.

Those teachers also have to “publish or perish” qualitative studies of LGBT student’s experiences in wymyn’s studies, so they work a fair amount of hours.

As you probably know, neither your parents nor your grandparents were required to take on this kind of burden in order to go to college.

Nor are YOU required to take on such debt. I'm almost certain that college is still voluntary.

But it seems that all the learning in the world, all the good grades and high test scores—which they had too, remember, just like you—don’t mean a goddamned thing when people have no bargaining power.

Slaves to be sure! No one can perform other than his assigned work, or accept other than his/her assigned wage.

It is a double disaster of the kind that only we Americans are capable of pulling off.

It's true! Life in America's University system is worse than life in Stalin's gulags or Mao's reeducation camps! The FINAL punishment for those interred at Aushwitz was a transfer to Harvard. Many prisoners would throw themselves into gas chambers to avoid it!

I could continue, but it is insensitive to mock a retard.

Boo freakin’ hoo.

Material lust is fine if you can pay for it. Gotta have a BMW seven series? I don’t care, as long as you can pay for it. But if you borrow the money to buy it, you’re an idiot. And I don’t feel sorry for you when it gets repossessed.

The lust to go to Harvard is exactly like the lust to buy that Beemer. It’s name-brand exhibitionism. It’s a polo logo on an otherwise ordinary shirt. You want to smug it up toward everyone who went to a community or state college. Again, not my business — as long as you can pay for it. Some people want Louis Vuitton purses.

But if you can’t pay for Harvard and buy it anyway, you’re an idiot. And I don’t feel sorry for you when you can’t service your debt.

AND I’M NOT PAYING YOUR DEBT FOR YOU.

These types of articles are meant to soften us up for massive student debt relief. I hope American taxpayers won’t stand for it.
