From Monday:

What Karen Handel is Up Against Tomorrow

We’ve proven in prior races with states like Texas and Nebraska that big money doesn’t always dictate the future of our country.  This of course was proven with conservative victories like Ted Cruz’s and others like Deb Fischer’s.

Well, another great conservative is up to bat tomorrow and as Dave Catanese explains, she’s up against a bitter establishment and some big money:

Via US News:

Georgia GOP Senate candidate Karen Handel may be riding a wave of late momentum, but if she falls short in Tuesday’s primary, it’ll largely be due to a lack of money.

The former secretary of state and gubernatorial hopeful is being vastly outspent on the airwaves in the final days ahead of the election. A disparity so gaping that some Republican strategists believe it will likely sink her hopes, if not on Tuesday, then ultimately in the expected July runoff which will require millions more.

Of the $8 million in television advertising being spent on the Georgia Senate race in the final six days before the primary, Handel’s campaign accounts for just $19,000 of the total, according to a GOP source tracking the final flight of commercials from both sides. A Handel spokesman said their campaign’s spending was “more than that” but didn’t dispute the massive cash gap.

Yes you read that correctly.  For some reason, a big money success like Perdue and/or Kingston so desperately want to be in the Senate, they’re willing to spend mammoth amounts of cash to get there.  Karen on the other hand has been traveling by bus all over Georgia meeting voters, listening to their concerns, and letting them know that they can count on her once she gets to D.C.

Handel is the real deal.  She’s the real deal in this race as she was years back when she ran for Governor.  But, as Cantanese further explains, that pesky establishment has not quite forgotten it and remains bitter to this day.

"Don’t piss off Nathan Deal [Handel's past gubernatorial opponent]. I think he’s dried up the money. I think he makes calls. I think he wields a big stick down here. I think his political operatives are vindictive. Probably not publicly, but I think they would work against her in a runoff. I think they’d be aggressive,” says the Washington-based source who has been in the state.

The Atlanta-based GOPer adds, “Team Deal really doesn’t like Karen. If she makes the runoff, I expect Gov. Deal will publicly engage for the opponent.”

Now, this of course has those at the Daily Beast already claiming a Tea Party flop in Georgia tomorrow.  But when you’re fighting powerful and wealthy establishments on both sides of the aisle, the entire process is important, not just the final tally.  What’s clear is that Handel made such a commonsense and no nonsense impression, that the entire establishment is still holding a grudge. That’s a good thing.

And while the establishment and their pals in the media are trying to distract with a trumped up feud between Karl Rove and Hillary Clinton — or trying to distract us with why Marco Rubio won’t tell us if he’s ever smoked pot or not, the rest of us are focused on the real importance of cleaning up corruption in D.C. and we will always be there to serve as a thorn in the side of the establishment who want nothing more than for us to go back to the days where everyone ignored crony capitalism and backroom deals.

Until/unless insurgent candidates develop effective fundraising networks, they're going to continue to get overwhelmed by oceans of establishment cash.

Karen Handel is a hack. Her past associations are dubious and she is go along to get along. Her great claim was she could work across the aisle. Palin picked wrong on this one. I am glad she lost. She is Sysan Collins light
