How Mitch McConnell crushed the tea party
CNN ^ | 05-21-2014 | Peter Hamby

Matt Bevin reaches into the breast pocket of his jacket and extracts a wrinkled, yellow piece of paper. "Fraud Alert," it reads, in alarming, official-seeming font. "Sensitive Materials Enclosed. Please Open Immediately."

A Republican he met received the notice in the mail a few weeks ago and showed it to Bevin, who now carries it with him wherever he goes.

Bevin, Mitch McConnell's tea party-backed Republican primary challenger in Kentucky, flattens it out on the table in the back of a community ballroom in Georgetown where he just addressed the Scott County Republican Party's Lincoln Day Dinner. The unfolded paper displays a litany of accusations against Bevin: He praised the Wall Street bailout in 2008. He doesn't pay his taxes. He padded his resume.

"This information is provided as a public service," the notice explains. It's an attack mailer from McConnell's re-election campaign, dressed up to look like an official government notice and sent to thousands of GOP primary voters across Kentucky.

When Birch Bayh ran against Homer Capehart in 1962, Capehart was running for a fourth term. One of the themes of Bayh’s campaign was an ad headlined “18 Years in the US Senate Ought to Be Enough for Any Man”. Guess what Dan Qualyle used against Bayh in 1980?

If we can elect a decent president, McConnell will follow his/her agenda. Whereas, a democrat will oppose their agenda.

Maybe. I’m not at all sure of that.

The democrats have free reign because McConnell does not use the
rules available to him such as the filibuster to stop them.
So don’t give us this nonsense that we need a majority to stop Obama.
It simply is not true.
Tools and rules are and have been available for McConnell to use.
He simply chooses not to use them.

Pass, if you can use some of Mitch’s money to sneak into Kentucky and vote go for it. I’ll pass on this turd in the punch bowl. All this big tent, democrats bogey man is coming, rah-rah, lets rally around the party and candidate crapola has played itself out.

Mitch and the GOPe punched conservatives in the face-—again. Well guess what we don’t want the douche bag back this time, we want a divorce— and it will be granted come November.

If you think voting democrat is the way to defeat the democratic party, then you are really stupid.

Ford did not “trash” and brag about “crushing” Reagan.
There is a difference.

There won’t be enough KY Bushite votes to save McMconnell in Ky.
If only a small percent of conservatives stay home, he is finished.
He only won by 6% in his last election.

You are advocating surrender to the progressive left. A liberal is a liberal. McConnell votes one way but behind the scenes he is busy at work undermining conservatives as much as possible. Why would he suddenly change his ways as majority leader and work against his friends across the aisle.

I got a feeling a bunch of them will stay home. If I lived in Kentucky I would. Where is the choice? You will have one Democrat and one pretend Democrat.

Name call if you wish.
The fact is McConnell only won his last race by 6%
It will only take a small percent of KY conservatives who were trashed
by McConnell staying home and McConnell is finished.

Not even every Bushite vote like yours will save him.

Plus McConnell already had/has the tools to stop Obama.
It is called the fillibuster. He has dozen to not use those rules to fight.

Good riddance to McConnell.

Talk to the Senate Conservative fund.
Talk to the NRA
Talk to NRLC
Talk to EVERY conservative group out there.
THEY ALL AGREE WITH ME!

Do not cut off your nose to spite your face. The enemy is Obama. Obama wants McConnell to lose.

The Enemy of your Enemy is your friend. Take care of your enemies one enemy at a time. Rank them. Obama is our worst enemy. He comes first, in any smart strategy.

I respect your opinion, but I would like to see less of Reid. Everyone has to evaluate and do what they thinks best.

Baloney! I voted for the lesser of two evils in the last two elections, i.e. against someone. Next time I vote, I will vote for something or someone. If they do, it will mean that their principles are for sale.

It wasn’t intended as name calling, and it wasn’t, is is a description.

The democrats are perfectly willing to “own” things, everything, they love your idea of total surrender to them.

That’s one way to look at it. My way of looking at it is that it is a monkeys paw sort of thing. They have the votes. They are getting what they wish for. It will implode.

But the 800 lb gorilla in the room is that the R’s, as currently configured, are no better. The two parties are playing “good cop, bad cop” with us. I’m not playing.
