A 'swarm' occurs when the beehive gets too crowded, then the worker bees load up on honey and migrate to find a new home.
When they are loaded up on honey, its like humans after over eating turkey on Thanksgiving. Very little upsets us.
Bees don't like rain , thunderstorms ,loud noises , nor having their home jostled and destroyed, nor losing their queen.
The queen releases a pheremone (scent) which contributes to social order in the hive; each queen has a distinct scent identifier for each hive. There are several species of bees used commercialy in the U.S., and each variety has a personality for honey production, pollenation, and aggressivness.
DANG!
Sounds like he was trying to bypass the Delaware tolls.
One day I was sitting on the roof deck of a city apartment house with a friend, drinking from large tumblers of apple juice. A bee flew down to drink from the surface of the juice. I just watched him. He lowered his wings, and one of them got caught in the juice and he couldn't fly up. I took a dried leaf and gently scooped him out. He flew up, hovered in the air facing me and rocked side to side a few times, as if to say, "Thanks!" before flying off. No sting; no fear. A crystal memory...
+2!
I thought it was “brown chicken, brown cow”
Silly internet meme generators - everyone knows that’s a yellowjacket on the right. Which is a type of social wasp, but still.
