City plans to attack economic segregation by moving poor into middle-class neighborhoods...

The City plans to attack economic segregation in its affordable housing plan — placing the poor in middle-class neighborhoods and the more affluent in high-poverty spots.

Housing Preservation and Development Commissioner Vicki Been said the plan to build 80,000 new affordable apartments and preserve 120,000 units would create a more diverse city.

“We really have to make economic diversity a cornerstone of that plan,” she said at a City Council budget hearing Wednesday.

“That means that in some neighborhoods that have mostly middle or upper-income housing, that we would need to put affordable housing at the very lowest income,” she said.

“But in some communities where we have a great deal of poverty . . . we would try to bring more moderate (-income housing) into those neighborhoods, to try to achieve the kind of diversity that we want,” Been said.

De Blasio’s executive budget boosted the housing department’s capital cash to $3.1 billion, up from $1.9 billion in his January preliminary budget, to help pay for the ambitious proposal.

Isn't this a bit expensive?

Why don't they just do what they have done for all the nice suburban malls and run "public transportation" directly from the inner city to the nice neighborhoods and offer "free" rides?

The ferals, criminals, welfare queens, and other nasty trash ought to be able to find their own way there once the easy pickin's are made that much more convenient!

Of course all of those good liberals will be unarmed providing a ready source of victims of violent gun crimes, and a new pool of material wealth for the Free Shit Army (FSA).

The communists want US to suffer at the hands of the FSA, but they will not tolerate them, their crime, their uneducable children. They will no more tolerate them in their homes any more than they will tolerate them in Martha’s Vineyard, Beverly Hills, or Paulo Alto.

Never underestimate the ability of a liberal to deny reality, and to change the rules to do so.

Thanks - in the long run it would actually work. It would force liberal elites to 'get real' and it would help people come up with real ways to assimilate - or 'deal with' some of the problem poor people have. And no, their problem isn't 'not living near white people'.

Chicago and Detroit have taught us about some in common problems - like gang control of cities, unarmed honest citizens, corrupt politicians, and perverse incentives... None of the above would be solved by moving people into white middle class neighborhoods.
