Redskins fire back against Harry Reid, senators on name change
The Washington Times ^ | May 23, 2014 | By John Solomon

The Washington Redskins took on Democrats in the U.S. Senate on Friday, telling Majority Leader Harry Reid that his efforts to orchestrate a campaign to force a team name change were misguided and failed to recognize the name’s “deep and personal meaning.”

“I hope you will attend one of our home games, where you would witness first-hand that the Washington Redskins are a positive, unifying force for our community in a city and region that is divided on so many levels,” team President Bruce Allen wrote Mr. Reid.

The letter offered several rebuttals to arguments that Mr. Reid and other Democratic senators made in a letter earlier this week asking the NFL to force the team to change its name because they considered it racially offensive.

Mr. Allen argued the Redskins‘ name “originated as a Native American expression of solidarity” and that the team logo was designed by Native Americans in 1971.

He also noted that 90 percent of Americans in one poll didn’t find the team name offensive, and that an Associated Press survey earlier this year found 83 percent of Americans supported keeping the team name.

“What policy or issue generates 83 percent to 90 percent support is this era of negativity and division?” he asked.

Only the fake Native Americans like Ray Halbritter and Elizabeth “Dances with Fractions” Warren seem to be concerned about the name.

During the Spanish Inquisition, those with wealth became targets for the unscrupulous. A way to avoid persecution was to hire an uncloistered monk to live in your home and swear to your piety. He might eat a lot of food and drink a lot of wine, and pester the servant girls, but that was a small price to pay.

I mention this because a modern equivalent for a sports team would be to cut a deal with an Indian tribe. They provide a non-ceremonial logo and name, as well as some other copyrighted graphic designs, and some other gratuities, totalling maybe a few thousand a year, and the team is home free.

If I was the team President, I'd tell Reid to focus on the nation's real problems, like Benghazi, IRS Scandal, etc.

And I'd have the Koch brothers standing next to me.

Oh, yeah, white boy. Lots of Indian tribes would just STAND in line waiting for their Redskin money. Does the word casino bring any hint to you that your plan is utterly, totally stupid?

Elizabeth Warren claiming to be an Indian is offensive.

Why do democrat senators think they have a right to be involved in everything? Their arrogance is offensive.

Stop calling each other “white boy”. This thread is about the Redskins. You should be using “pale face”.

Reid and all the Senators are nothing more than bullies. They would rather bully someone they do not like than take action to reduce the number of people on food stamps, to reduce the number of people on disability, to cooperate on Benghazi, to get rid of Obamacare, to reduce the number of people who have even stopped looking for work, to take a common sense approach to our disastrous foreign policy, to take care of our veterans at least as well as the foreign prisoners at Guantanamo Bay.

Instead they pick on a football team because they themselves have decided that they do not like their name. They ignore the real business of our country to force their way into something that is NONE of their business!

Hairy Reed could care less about the Redskins. He understands the how to get his base energized on some very contrived and idiotic issue. Things his base can wrap their mind around.

Benghazi, Fast & Furious, IRS Nazism, and the like are to complicated and confuse them. Dem leaders know this all to well.
