Eric Holder Was Right
national review ^ | 5/23/14 | Charles C W Cooke

Yes, certain subjects are off limits. Just ask Mark Cuban.

Eric Holder famously suggested that, on the question of race at least, America represents a “nation of cowards.” After watching the crucifixion of Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban over the past couple of days, it’s nigh on impossible not to think that he’s right.

In an interview arranged by the business magazine Inc., Cuban went out on a limb. Answering a question about Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, he started by reiterating his view that not only is cultural censorship a force for ill, but that it is impossible to regulate away unpleasantness (“there’s no law against stupid”), and then moved on to weightier things. America has come a long way, Cuban suggested, but it is “not necessarily easy for everybody to adopt, or adapt, or evolve”:

Ridiculous is the word to describe the treatment given to Cuban. He is trying to have an honest TRUTHFUL discussion....and is ripped.

Sterling had a PRIVATE CONVERSATION and was ripped.

There are drones now the size of house flys wait until one is guided into the presence of some liberal icon....suddenly we will be treated to the need for privacy rights.

I guess since Cuban has habitually been a leftist supporter of democrats and dem causes he thought he could say the truth and not come under attack by the PC goons.

I hope this gives him a little personal education and he comes away from this a little smarter.

Jesse Jackson said the same thing about crossing the street.

the sort of people who call for a “dialogue” in this area really want to hear a lecture

Nah.

They want to deliver the lecture while the rest of us listen attentively.

Then we confess our guilt and write them checks.

I still have no idea what Sterling mentioned in his private conversation.

Only the Left gets away with this game. Has the Mainstream Ministry of Information covered the recent O’Keefe exposé?

I’m sorry, but Mark Cuban is incredibly naive if he thinks we can have an honest, truthful discussion about these matters. We’ve been discussing the left’s intolerance here on Free Republic for as long as I can remember. The left only plays nice when it’s losing. Once it thinks it has the upper hand, all the tolerance and diversity malarkey goes right out the window.

I know you know this, SoFloFreeper, but the left is not generally made up of moral, nice people. They lie. They cheat. It’s what they do. There are some leftists who are the exception, but most act like petulant children as soon as they don’t get their way.

Are you starting to get a hint of what the Left is really all about, Mark?

So done with the whole race thing. My sensitivity is out the window.

Cuban is finally correct about something and he will be attacked and vilified by his own pals for it.

Eric Holder wasn’t talking about a conversation on race. There aren’t two sides to the discussion, just him talking and you listening. That’s what passes for conversation these days. Cuban stepped over that line and now he has to be vilified to serve as fair warning to anyone else who thinks about sticking his head up.

Yeah, but Cuban is an honest Leftist. I have more respect for the actual hard left (the ones who used to represent the middle-class) than I do for the totalitarian left.

The hell with the race mongers. Everybody is racist to some extent. It’s natural to relate to people most like you. It’s also a survival skill learned by our primitive ancestors, when if you walked up to members of the wrong tribe you died. Those who shout loudest about know in their hearts they also have racist tendencies, and villify it onto others in order to deny it in themselves.

The NBA is now officially, the Nowhitepeople BA. The irony is that if white people stop flocking to the arenas to watch the sport, then the league would revert to dust and blow away. While I believe that the league should have taken some action against Sterling, what did transpire was overkill to the max. The other white owners are all on notice that they could be next.

I disagree. Kryptonite can damage Superman, but it is completely irrelevant to a liberal. They could care less.

All peoples, including Negroes (the proper ethnological term), find the most attractive ideal, blond blue eyed people. It might be behavioral evolution of sorts. What about the white women who fall for black men? No, it isn’t because of that favorable stereotype (see Madeline Khan with Cleavon Little in “Blazing Saddles”), but the fact that black men are generally taller than whites. Women like to look up as it makes their eyes more beautiful. Also, behavioral evolution or sumping.

agreed.

I wonder if, deep down, many folks are beginning to realize this...I think Mark Cuban has. And Bill Maher, too...remember his “Gay Mafia” line?

“Jesse Jackson said the same thing about crossing the street.”

Actually, he should have quoted Jackson without attribution. It would have been fun to watch the reaction.
