Green group: Pull ads slamming coal rules

An environmental group is demanding radio stations to pull ads from a national mining group that blast the administration's coal rules.

The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) claims the National Mining Association's ads are "false, misleading, and deceptive."

The 60-second radio ads, which are set to run until the end of June, state that the administration's carbon emissions limits on power plants will nearly double consumers electric bills, or increase prices by 80 percent.

They are currently running in Arkansas, Colorado, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Michigan, where some of the more critical races for Democrats are taking place this year.

The letter to the radio stations also cites a Washington Post fact check, which states the ads are "hyped," and "wholly unsupported."

"We are asking you to immediately cease airing this deceptive ad," the letter states.

The NRDC notes that radio stations have legal obligations under the Federal Communications Commission, and are responsible for selecting the material aired on their stations.

"The FCC expects broadcasters to be responsible to the community they serve and act with reasonable care to ensure that advertisements aired on their stations are not false or misleading," according to FCC.

The green group threatens further action if the stations fail to pull the ads.

There is nothing so toxic to political correctness as the truth.

“The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC)”
I wonder if these Idiots in environmental groups have thought about the lost Jobs because of their wishes.
I think we should stop shipping Oil and gasoline products to these Miserable wretches. Without coal and oil, their electric would go out soon enough. Never mind doubling electric rates, food prices have doubled and many people can’t afford the food.
Get a life.

They would do well to edit the ad to make sure that Obama’s “prices will necessarily skyrocket” is the prominent statement.

Right ... then add a clarification at the end of the add saying “the 80-percent figure is based on the high lever of carbon capture”. Gets the message out by providing a clarification that no normal person would understand, much less hear.

The recent ouster of Australia’s Labour government was in large part due to higher electric rates caused by a carbon tax. Australia gets most of its electricity from coal fired generating plants and the carbon tax increased electric rates by 112%. Tony Abbot’s Liberal (conservative in the US) Party ran on a platform of repealing the carbon tax and dismantling many expensive green initiatives.
