An Oregon man is making a patriotic journey, carrying the U.S. flag across the country on horseback.

Samuel Hopkins-Hubbard—or as he prefers, simply Sam Hubbard—of Milton-Freewater, Ore., stopped through Chadron Wednesday and departed for Hay Springs late Thursday morning. Hubbard began riding east from Milton-Freewater on April 5 and hopes to make the Atlantic coast by September at the latest.

:snip:

His website, OneNationRide.com, states, “We all have different ideas, beliefs, cultures, and different needs, but this nation’s founding documents make us Americans, united in one cause; to defend and honor this nation’s Constitution—based on freedom of religion, freedom of choice, freedom of speech and the freedom to defend ourselves against external and internal tyranny. Always remember that a House / Nation divided cannot stand. So let’s all work together as Americans to stay united in one cause: FREEDOM!”

Hubbard’s traveling companions are Maximus, a 10-year-old Appaloosa he bought through the Yakima Equine Rescue Program, and Tucker, a 5-year-old sorrel Quarter Horse.

Tucker’s birthday was Thursday and Hubbard said he got him some Nature Valley granola bars as a treat before heading out of town.

According to Hubbard, the trip has been...

What a wonderful man, but his belief system is woefully naive. “...people need to forget about political parties and divisive issues and remember that we are the great melting pot of the world and the principles on which the country was founded still hold true today.”

One of the two parties is actively undermining the Constitution every chance it gets and would happily create a dictatorship at the earliest possible opportunity. Just this week, Obastard was once again railing against the very structure of our government as created by the Constitution. In Chicago, he was complaining about all states having the same number of Senators and urban areas not having enough clout. Give him half a chance and he would repeal the entire Constitution. And the GOP-E is not really that far behind the ComDems.

Mr. Hopkins-Hubbard from Milton-Freewater doesn’t seem to understand that (is a hyphenated last name a requirement to live in Milton-Freewater?).

God bless him.

I LOVE that he’s riding a rescued horse. So many are being slaughtered these days. Breaks my heart, partly because they are American symbols of freedom.

is he being naive or is he being subtle? If Hubbard rode down the street with an “Obama Sucks Eggs” sign, I don’t think many ears would be open to him, pretty horsies or no.

Maybe by being ‘non-demoninational’ in his message, he’s trying to draws more interest, and more open reception from a larger base in what he has to say ? That it is the Constitition that guides our country, not the whims of some political electee or appointee.

I think your interpretation is closer to the truth. May God watch over this man and help him spread the good word about our Constitution.

Nice analysis, BP. You raise an excellent point. Firebreathing conservatives are supposedly a big turn off from what I read. Not that I mind them, of course. We need more red-meat-eaters on our side, especially in Congress.

Which is exactly why they’re killing them.
