SALT LAKE CITY (Reuters) - Utah's Mia Love, a Republican darling who could become the first conservative black woman elected to U.S. Congress, is getting a second, and likely better, chance to make history after narrowly losing to a popular incumbent Democrat in 2012.
Love, 39, is a Mormon mother of three who is upending stereotypes about the state and its predominant faith. She locked up her party's nomination to vie for an open seat in Utah's 4th District at a state convention last month with an overwhelming 78 percent of the vote.

bttt!
with Mia in Congress and TW in the Senate I’d feel a lot better about America’s chances!!
I didn’t know we dabbled in identity politics like the Democrats do.
I’m sure the democrat cheated last year. If Harry Reid is any indication, some mormons will cheat.
All politics are are identity politics - we’ve just invested too much into the “stiff white guy in an expensive suit” demographic. :)
Is this really identity politics? Or isn’t a candidate such as hher, showing that conservative values cut across the usual political lines which liberals draw? Can’t wait to hear if she gets attacked for not being Democrat and liberal, as Democrats expect of people such as herself.
I definitely hope she wins. She seems sincerely not a RINO.
Mia is the real deal. she needs whatever support conservatives all over the country can give her.
Matheson (D) is better on immigration than the House Republicans from Utah.
Matheson is retiring so the Democrat replacing him is terrible and Mia Love is a better candidate.
Mia Love’s primary opponent was total idiot. He talked about opposing amnesty and the Utah Compact in the same sentence.
Matheson’s poll numbers showed him getting clobbered..that’s why he retired...If he thought he had even a scintilla of a chance, he’d have run again.
Love Mia
