An American citizen whose pregnant wife has been sentenced to death in Sudan for refusing to renounce her Christian faith told Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren Friday that his wife is staying strong in her convictions despite her ordeal.

Meriam Yehya Ibrahim, 27, whose Christian husband Daniel Wani holds American citizenship, has been held in a Sudanese prison along with her 20-month old son for more than three months.

Wani said on “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren” that when his wife’s ordeal began he went to the U.S. embassy and tried to report the case. However, he said he was told to go to the UN because his wife is not an American.

“I say I am an American and she is a doctor, you have to help her but she refuse to do anything,” Wani said of a counselor at the embassy he spoke to.

You believe that if she lied to scum in order to save her life that she would be denied eternity in heaven? God would know the truth when she spoke her lie and would never punish her for that.

He would know what was in her heart.

"You believe that if she lied to scum in order to save her life that she would be denied eternity in heaven? God would know the truth when she spoke her lie and would never punish her for that. He would know what was in her heart."

That is a very difficult situation to understand indeed. And I am so often lacking in the right words to explain what I really want to say. So I am calling on a few FR Christians (daniel1212, Alex Murphy, and HiTech RedNeck) I know can probably answer better that I. I'll give it a try, then I hope that they will step in and fill in the gaps.

You are right about the part that God would KNOW what is in her heart..... but the question would remain, what exactly is in her heart if she could proclaim a false testimony as to her faith. For example: if your child was wrongly accused of something horrible and about to be killed for it, wouldn't you know that you must testify to your child's innocence, proclaim it loud and clear even if it might mean your death as well? What I am trying to say is that there are some truths so important, that to deny proclaiming them would be worse than death. How could you live on knowing that as your innocent child was being put to death that you did not try to save him? So the answer is YES, I do believe that God expects us as "Christians" to be ready to testify as to our faith in Jesus Christ, no matter what the consequences. However, in return He promises that the Holy Spirit will give us the courage and strength to do so.

The scriptures say:

“I tell you, whoever publicly acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God. But whoever disowns me before others will be disowned before the angels of God." Luke 12:8-9

You are correct. While to save the life of another lying may be justified, the Bible treats confession with the mouth as reflecting the heart, and that saving faith i the kind that confesses the Lord Jesus, while false faith denies Him.

And as to die is gain as it means to be with the Lord, then to deny Christ is to profess faith, and love of this life more, or lack of saving faith in Christ.

"...for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. " (Matthew 12:34)

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. " (Romans 10:9.10)

"And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. " (Matthew 10:28)

"Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. " (Matthew 10:32-33)

But denying the Lord takes many forms and degrees, active and passive, and i do both.

To fail to witness of Christ to others due to fear, or to otherwise disobey Him is denying Him, which we do every time we sin. But to WILL-FULLY do so and or fail to repent when convicted of it is damnable.

I am on a laptop now which makes it even slower for me to type with my stiff fingers so this all for now.
