COLUMBIA, SC THE GREATEST danger to our nation is not that the Republicans will take over the Senate this fall or that they wont. Its not that Hillary Clinton will be elected president in two years. Or Ted Cruz.
Its not even a nuclear Iran or an expansionist Vladimir Putin though we ought to be a lot more concerned about those possibilities than the others.
No, our biggest danger is that the political center will disintegrate. That we will cease to be able to find indeed, that we will stop even trying to find areas of agreement between Republicans and Democrats, rich and poor, black and white, young and old, conservative and liberal. That we will abandon pragmatism for ideological purity. That we will lose the ability to solve the problems that face our nation indeed, that we will lose the ability to agree on what those problems even are.
Only once before in our history have extreme voices held such sway in our national conversation. Only once before has the sensible center seemed so fragile, so incapable of overcoming the voices of extremism, of bringing moderation, of reminding us that those things that unite us are far more important than those things that divide us. When the sensible center could not hold, our nation went to war with itself.
We are not near a civil war today, but we are trapped in gridlock as our problems mount and reasonable solutions wither on the vine.
This is why it is essential to South Carolina and to the nation that voters send U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham back to Washington for another term. Lindsey Graham is one of the dwindling voices in Washington who is fighting to preserve the sensible center.

Three bucks says this newspaper wouldn’t be talking about the ‘sensible center’ when it comes to Democrats.

I just want the Senate no matter how we get it. Yep I am desperate. The dems are planning on taking away the nuclear option for budget during the next Senate Session if they keep the Senate. So any fool who wants to give the Democrats the Senate AGAIN is just plain selfish and stupid.

That paper will likely endorse the D in the general I bet.
I've posted it before but it bears repeating: It doesn't matter who is endorsed by any newspaper. There's only one party in Columbia...the ruling Uni-party. Choose your favorite color, red or blue, and wear it with pride. Pull for Clemson, pull for USC, but do so with great pride. Love Haley, hate Sanford, but do it with gusto.
What a sham. And a shame on us for letting it slide decade after decade.
Of course, chances are, YOUR State is over the same barrel or not far from it.

So, you agree with this editorial?

THE STATE.
Is that not the perfect name for this editorial’s source.
The editors are all-in with the socialist Repubs running our party and Graham is one of the shiftiest.
What gain do we enjoy by ever electing socialists with an “R” behind their name? What is ever stopped, nevermind reversed? What advances are ever made against Big Government?
Republicans are actually behind Common Core. We all know the truth of my tagline concerning public education, but name anyone in the Republican party who has ever uttered a peep against decades of Alinsky’s curriculum.
This unfortunately includes all our favorite so called “conservative” squeezes, and you know who they are, in office and out.
Crickets.
So. This is never going to end and more coming.

When a major newspaper endorses a Republican, you are witnessing a tear in the fabric of the Universe. Something is amiss, the piano has gone out of tune, and Aunt Tillie has escaped from the attic. Such a thing cannot be and can only be explained by considering that the Editors must be under the impression that Senator Graham is really a Liberal. I think that they are right.
It does give a conservative pause. Doesn't faze a card-carrying Uni-party member either way.

Then let the democRATs provide the compromising centrists for a change.

I didnt read it. I am making general statements.
Do you believe that South Carolinians should re-re-elect LG, as this, SC's largest newspaper editorializes? Even before we hold a primary June 10th.

Amnesty for tens of millions of illegal aliens is what will tear the United States apart.
It will turn the U.S. into a Mexican corruptocracy.
Mr. Graham’s attempts to foment this radical revolution in our country is the best reason to diselect him.
To: Resettozero
As long as the primary winner who is Tea Party can win in November than fine. After Deleware and Nevada, I think we need to ensure that we don’t nominate idiots like O’Donnell and Angel types.....they were both highly embarrassing to the Tea Party and Republican Party. Two easy wins that we lost.

Of course you are correct and I agree.
The most telling thing about this weekend editorial in SC's most prestigious newspaper...is the timing of it. BEFORE the primary on June 10th and possible run-off 3 weeks later. ON the weekend Saturday edition and written BY an amateur editorialist.
What it tells me is that the Columbia Uni-party is not as confident about LG's assured re-election as LG's minions are publicizing.
This editorial in The State gave me hope.

Lindsey Graham deserves to be in Parwan for the treason he has committed against the American taxpayer, not the Senate.

Thank you. Just trying to ascertain which side you come down on. As an American Constitutional conservative, I hold no allegiance to the Republican Party, although the GOP has produced a few conservatives to vote for whereas the Dems have not, in recent memory.
You will vote for Romney no matter what and I won't.

Truly is sad that failure is not always given the proper reward in our Country anymore. And thanks for the geography lesson! R2z

Unless we commit suicide on immigration, we’ll win the Senate. And the R nominee will win the SC seat, Graham, Bright, or whomver. The magic formla is win the Senate but lose McConnell
.THAT is dream case scenario.
