My old man’s unit met up with Russians in Germany on multiple occasions.
The vets from his Airborne Division that I’ve spoken with over the years said the Russians were NOT the friendly, comradely, singing and dancing types you see in the movie reels. There was not a lot of amity in those meetings.
They were every bit as much an enemy as their National Socialist foes.
Like I’ve said many, many times. For the good of the world, WW2 should have seen Germany and Russia wipe each other off the face of the Earth.
