WASHINGTON (AP) -- First lady BIG MOMA Obama is answering Republicans in Congress who want to roll back healthier school meal standards, holding an event at the White House to highlight the success of the health guidelines.
The Tuesday event is an unusual move for the first lady, who has largely stayed away from policy fights since she lobbied for congressional passage of a child nutrition law in 2010.

I would vote against it on the grounds that school lunches are not within the purview of the Federal Government.
In fact, these regulations are symbolic of the gross overreach of the Federal Administrative State.
The parents then should ban together and storm the school and demand a change in that policy then. But I guess that’s to much trouble today as most parents are to busy with their own self important lives to worry about their kids.
I still wish it were possible for a dump truck to make a special delivery to the mooch of these delicious leftovers. Just have them dump it where her faux “garden” once grew. She'll get the message.
No, you didn’t use good reading skills. He has headaches, he is hungry from small lunches served. 2 separate issues though the hunger issues complicates the headaches. He is on medication to try to control the headaches, the medication is not working as well as expected.

I understand that his already-present headaches are exacerbated by the hunger. I still don’t get why you wouldn’t pack his lunches. His hunger is enough reason to do so, completely apart from the fact that the kid is in pain.
Because I am one of those evil people who have no income, filing for disability because I have chronic pain, failed back surgery and failing hands and arms. I have no way to buy him food to pack for lunches, because then he would also be hungry at night for not having enough for dinner.
Wife said she saw where Magilla told students during her commencement speech to “monitor” their parents because there’s still too much racism. She didn’t tell them who they were supposed to report their findings to.
If I had been a parent there I would have stood up and told my kid “Send Michelle your tuition bills!”
Truseell, I don’t think you’re “evil” for having health and money problems. Why on earth would you think that? I had no idea.
I’m sorry to hear of your medical issues, etc., and will keep you and your son in prayer.
If you get disability, maybe you can do a search for affordable pack lunch ideas....a pb & j sandwich (or two) and a yogurt would be better than what the schools are offering.
Many people on this site are against those who have to accept foodstamps and medicaid. I didn’t mean you personally would feel that way about me, I just hate to have to admit it because I worry about the reaction I will get.
Thank you very much for the prayers. I pray my disability gets approved soon so I can do more things that are important to my kids and be able to pay my bills

Michelle's starting to sound like a white liberal elite... that's a big step down. The school lunch thing is a busy body white thing by women who don't have children in the public school system. Or might not have kids at all - but have sister's who have children.
