Bit mystified by the article... State income tax allows deductions for taxes paid in another state, but local units (county and city) don’t honor that deduction? Deductions are a constitutional mandate now?
Yes, and the local “piggyback” taxes to cities and countes is considerable in MD, so this is a big deal. If MD wins the appeal, watch for penalties and interest to be applied to tax refunds resulting from the challenge to the local tax authorities’ overreach.
Weird that this has to go to the SC. Seems to be a state issue, but then again, this is MD.
And my advice for those who die: Declare the pennies on your eyes …Of course in 1966, the British penny had the same diameter as the US half dollar coin.
