WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says the United States is finishing the job it started in Afghanistan.
The president says he will seek to bring the U.S. force in Afghanistan down to 9,800 as the American combat mission ends later this year. He then intends to withdraw most those forces by the end of 2016.
Obama said from the Rose Garden on Tuesday, quote: "This is the year we will conclude our combat mission in Afghanistan."

The instant he announced a pullout date we /Afghanistan lost.
The Afghans we had on our side realized what would happen to them when we left and switched sides.
Can’t blame them, survival.
What number lie is that now? Gotta be in the thousands by now.
I hardly think Iraq was a success; there has been civil war since we left, and it is far from over. The midnight retreat out of there said it all; we couldn’t have victory without defining what “victory” meant. The search for “weapons of mass destruction” failed.
