Sen. Reid, business leaders push to pass immigration reform(Tea Party mentioned;)

LAS VEGAS -- Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., is calling for the House of Representatives to vote on an immigration reform bill, which he says will strengthening the U.S. southern border, wipe out a trillion dollars of debt, and modernize an antiquated immigration system.

The senator made the announcement during a news conference Tuesday. He was joined by the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, the Latin Chamber of Commerce, the Urban Chamber of Commerce and other business and tourism leaders.

Senator Reid pointed to immigration reform being critical to the future of the nation's economy and specifically to the economies of Nevada and Las Vegas, but he says time is running out.

There are approximately 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States, according to the most recent estimates from the Pew Research Center Hispanic Trends Project.

For years, the debate has gone back and forth about whether the country should create a pathway to citizenship or deport them.

"When we started on this, we did not have the support of the American people, but now we do. We have the support of the American people," Reid said.

Sen. Reid took the floor in the Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce to say there is now a solution. Legislation has been before the House for nearly a year, after passing in the Senate.

Reid says he believes most Republicans would vote for the bill, if House Speaker John Boehner would bring it forward.

"The problem is there is a significant number of his Tea-Party driven caucus that don't accept the world has changed," Reid said.

The bill S-744 would create a pathway to citizenship. Undocumented immigrants would have to pay fines, pay taxes, learn English and wait about 12 years before getting full legal status.

It is a plan that critics have called amnesty for people who broke the law coming to this country in the first place.

The Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce estimates immigrants have a $1 billion impact in Nevada and around 20 percent of businesses are owned by someone born outside this country.

The bill would also update the way companies verify if someone is a citizen.

"It would assure businesses and employers that they have better opportunities and a clearer process with government agencies. That is going to improve job creation in this climate," vice president for government affairs with the chamber Brian McAnallen said.

Reid says the congressional deadline is approaching. It is do or die for the bill.

"We just need to have a vote in the house, a vote," Reid said.

Senator Dean Heller, R-Nev., voted for S-744 in the Senate. Heller and Nevada's Republican Congressman Joe Heck have both called for the House to take a vote on the bill.

They are on record saying they think it would pass.

“which he says will strengthening the U.S. southern border, wipe out a trillion dollars of debt, and modernize an antiquated immigration system.”

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said the health care overhaul efforts “means making sure you can keep your family’s doctor or keep your health care plan if you like it.”

I am a life-long bookkeeper. Now 74.

Someone has to explain to me how letting over 55 million illegals be ‘quasi-citizens’ of the USA is wiping out a trillion $$$ in debt.

Please do so before I have a stroke trying to solve this by myself.

"We just need to have a vote in the house, a vote," Reid said.

How many house bills are sitting in the senate that will not be brought to a vote? Who is responsible for scheduling votes in the senate?

What's good for the goose, Harry, remember that.

These lefties must be counting with both eyes closed and lead sunglasses on. How many illegal invaders are here? Thirty million? More?

Harry, as soon as you get on that VA bill. In the meantime, we are planning on looking at immigration after the election.

Let's strengthen the southern US border, deport all illegals (including anchor babies) and then reform the immigration laws.

Did we hear from the American Tea Party chamber of commerce? I mean we heard from about 20 other chambers of commerce.

The Cof C is not conservative...

This country hasn’t followed its own immigration laws for most of my life. My question of anyone advocating MORE LAWS, “The past laws haven’t been enforced, why should anyone expect your new ones to be any different?”. And an observation, stick your new law where the SUN DON’T SHINE.

“We have the support of the American people,” Reid said.

The little lying `rat Reid, and his fellow lying `rats Pelosi and Obama said they had the support of the American people for `Obamacare’ although 61% of the American people were vehemently opposed to it; in fact Americans were giving their representatives `both barrels’ at town hall meetings.
But that didn’t stop the lying `rats—Obama, Reid, Pelosi and all the rest of the lying `rats from blocking filibuster and railroading Obamacare Christmas Eve, 2010, saying, “We have the support of the American people” .

The response of Twitch McConnell to this?
Twitch says that if the GOP-e regains power, he will try to reinstitute the filibuster. Here’s a classic example of GOP-e incompetence:
If the GOP-e regains the Senate, and eventually the WH, Democrats can again fight Republican judicial & cabinet nominees, proposed laws, etc., all to the death of the last yellow, lying `rat).

And, claiming he has a mandate, lying little yellow `rat Harry Reid is planning to push-through “comprehensive immigration reform”: 20-30 million new, crooked, `rat voters/illegal foreign invaders who will do nothing following amnesty (to satisfy any small requirements imposed, e.g fines, etc.) but immediately get in line for even more government largesse from Uncle Sugar as newly minted American citizens.

So, what have we learned it is that we get when `we’—the GOP-e: Booshes, Boner, McCain, et al.—encourage bad behavior?

We get more Democrats. Radical hispanics are urging that Republicans `play it smart’ and pass `reform’ and even Republicans say that `we’ must `bring the latinos into the fold’ to survive ....

Hispanics vote Democrat.

The GOP is making decisions now as to whether it will remain a viable political party, or survive at all.
With Boehner, McConnell and the others advancing the conservative cause/operating upon themselves, it doesn’t look like the patient is going to survive.
“A Republic, if you can keep it.”

Those 11 million must all be in California. I can’t throw a cat without hitting one or two.
