What would you think if your 8-year-old came home and told you that “white privilege is something that white people have, meaning they have an advantage in a lot of things and they can get a job more easily”? I don’t disagree with your choice for homeschooling. But in the same vein, not everyone can afford to home school, and we must stop them from indoctrinating and making more democRATS. We must stop spending OUR tax dollars on salaries that then pay union dues that in turn go to support democRATS. Closing the public schools isn’t going to happen, and privatizing them isn’t likely either.

Home schooling can be done for free. I actually know a family that is dirt poor and very effectively home schools their three kids who are now 15, 17 and 19.

And this was BEFORE the likes of khanacademy.

Actually, I’m in a band with this family (I’m the bass player). I see them weekly. They live in a house with bare floors and 1/4” gaps in the floorboards so that the cool air from the basement can be the summertime air conditioner. The band is actually part of their home schooling, but we got so good we are actually in demand in this area.

The way to close public schools is to stop participating.

"White privilege" is being cast as some kind of "insider" thing. Where we grant each other exceptions to the rules and special favors.

What we do have is a Culture of hard work, established means of ethically generating wealth under Capitalism, and a philosophy of Individual Rights and Responsibilities.

This ethos is "color blind", unless you are some Socialist dirtbag who would rather engender a sense of entitlement and inequality to try and avoid the hard work necessary to "get ahead" in such a system.

Let's start calling them what they are rather than letting them dictate the terms of the debate.
