My mistake, he was Whip. Things ran better when he was there though.
He did make it up to Majority Leader for 2 1/2 years (from 2003 until he was forced to step down in Sept 2005). He should’ve become Speaker instead of Boehner. The entire GOP “leadership” in both Houses needs to be run out on a rail.
