Full Title: Democratic amnesty fan Luis Gutierrez helping Eric Cantor get reelected in order to protect immigration reform

I’m late to this story but Mickey Kaus and David Steinberg are all over it. You know the background here: Eric Cantor, who’s been on the outs with House conservatives lately and who’s championed immigration reform for DREAMers for more than a year, is suddenly facing a surprisingly tough primary challenge in Virginia from Dave Brat, who’s attacked him for being soft on amnesty. How tough? Tough enough that Cantor recently ran away from Jeff Denham’s ENLIST Act for DREAMers despite having expressed support for it before. Tough enough that he’s now aired not one but two ads in his district attacking Brat by name, something a well-known incumbent is naturally loath to do against a little-known challenger unless he fears he’s in trouble. Tough enough, even, that Cantor’s team sent out a mass mailer to voters celebrating him as a, er … stalwart amnesty opponent.

Coincidentally, Democrat Luis Gutierrez, the House’s most vocal immigration champion, decided that today would be a perfect time to visit Virginia and protest Cantor for being such a hard-ass on amnesty. Which is funny because, as both Kaus and Steinberg note, Cantor and Gutierrez were part of a House delegation that toured America for three days last year to celebrate — ta da — immigration. They are, in other words, both committed to this cause. And if the cause requires them to pretend to be enemies temporarily in the name of protecting Cantor’s seat, so be it. Kaus knows kabuki when he sees it:

“Say no to Cantor” isn’t going to win the primary. The opponent should be out there saying with passion and conviction “Say yes to the American worker”. At this point, it’s up to the challenger to assure the voters that they’re a much better choice.

Dave Brat, the challenger, is saying just that. He needs money to get his message out.

He is making bald-faced lies to get re-elected and there are some who say we should vote for people like this because they are somehow better than Democrats

We can find fault with Cantor, but Brat is NOT the answer. Brat is a college professor with some very liberal positions in the past. His so called hard line on immigration is nothing more than a temporary political move.

A vote for Cantor is a vote for mass amnesty.

Boy, would it be a major victory not to return Cantor to the House .... the shock waves would reverbrate through the halls of DC. Unfortunately, once Cantor got the first shock/face slap, he doubled down and the mailings are unbelievable - he took the ‘warning’ seriously and is flooding his district with mailings that are downright misleading at best regarding Brat. Cantor is pulling out ALL the incendiary language such as “radical professor” and has linked him with Tim Kaine/tax increases. Last night, the mailings were about Brat cutting Medicare and SSN and costing seniors money .... all scare tactics.

No way Brat can financially match what Cantor is doing ..... hopefully, the people in his district that care about this country and don’t like liars and elitist politicians who have become unresponsive to their constituents, will turn out and vote for America and against Cantor. This man also wants to be Speaker some kind of bad and he’s got a lot of support .... he needs to be sent packing.

What a pile of BS. Brat is a true conservative. He is the better choice by far. So where are you getting your information about Brat"s "liberal positions?" Be more specific on the issues and where he stands.

Here is a video of Brat's press conference yesterday

Brat is the answer. Cantor is trying to rebrand the GOP and make it more liberal and to the left. He worked with Jeb Bush and Romney to do that in 2009. Here is a video of the three amigos and their launch of the National Council for a New America, an effort that also included 2008 GOP presidential nominee John McCain (R-Ariz.)

jimbo123:" A vote for Cantor is a vote for mass amnesty."

Correction !!
CANTOR is a PROVEN TRAITOR to CONSERVATIVE PRINCIPLES !!

He was elected as a Conservative
and his association with Boner has proven that he is anything but Conservative !
Political times are tough enough holding politicians to accountabilty; I am not willing to gamble "three card Monte" to figure which way he will vote !

A vote for BRAT says we don't like traitiors, nor do we support a Benedict Arnold personality,
who changes with the tides of political popularity
