The real Pappy O'Daniel.That is absolutely fascinating! I've been a great fan of the movie and have seen it countless times, just adoring Charles Durning's killingly clever depiction -- but was never aware just how much the Coens took from real life. It's a shame they made O'Daniel seem corrupt political hack in the movie. Thank you for posting that link!
