Personally, I think the lack of media coverage relates to a couple of factors in this case that make it a strange one (to say the least): (1) the guy's age, and (2) the curious legal questions that always come into play when you have a fabricated "victim" instead of a real one.

My take on Item (2) probably isn't a popular one, but I've always questioned the legality of charging someone with any kind of crime related to a minor when the "victim" in question is actually an adult police officer posing as a child online. In the U.S. criminal justice system, the accused has the right to confront and cross-examine the victim -- and there's something bizarre about having an adult police officer testifying in a case like this as a child "victim."
