The tea party and GOP establishment are happily married in the Iowa Senate race

Pop quiz: What do Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin have in common? Hint: It's the same thing the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Senate Conservatives Action have in common with Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).

The answer is they all back state Sen. Joni Ernst (R) in Iowa's U.S. Senate race. Tea party and establishment Republicans with a history of butting heads have coalesced behind Ernst's candidacy with less than a week to go until the June 3 primary. In an election cycle when tensions have been on full display in numerous races, Iowa is one of a handful of places where there has been surprising synergy between the two wings of the GOP.

Both Senate Conservatives Action and the Chamber of Commerce are on the air for Ernst this week as the frontrunner tries to fend off a well-heeled ad blitz from wealthy self-funder Mark Jacobs (R)...

Romney will campaign for Ernst later this week. Palin stumped for her earlier this year. The two Republicans have very different bases of support.

Meanwhile, Rubio, an example of a Republican who blurs the line between tea party and the establishment, is pitching in for Ernst with an ad from his political action committee...

Why it happens some places and not others is open to debate...

Of course, there's no guarantee it will work. If Ernst does not clear 35 percent in Tuesday's vote, the nomination process will move to a convention...

NEVER trust the party of liberal
and conservative-backstabber Romney.

The GOPe IS the REASON ObamaCARE remains, and
polygamy now exists, and the borders are open.

The assumption in the title being that Sarah Palin equals the Tea Party. Certainly many Iowa Tea Partiers would disagree.

Gov. Palin is a conservative.

Romney is a liberal clown. A fraud like Obama.

There are many Tea parties and some have
been taken over by the CLOWN who runs Team Romney.

Not that I agree with you, but why stop at Bush?

Wasn't it actually the 16th and 17th amendments that have allowed such bad ideas to be forwarded by government?

Perhaps, your inability to find meaning has more to do with your lack of knowledge and cognitive capacity than it has to due with President Bush.

Romney is a liberal East Coast Republican, as most of them on the EC are. However, I will be voting for Jodi Ernst.

Is Joni Ernst a real conservative?

Joni Ernst is a real conservative, at least by Iowa standards. We’re talking about replacing Tom Harkin here.

Mitt Romney has known Ernst for a number of years and has endorsed her. Sarah Palin only met her recently and endorsed her. Who’s more likely to be disappointed?

I doubt that she is very conservative, as her association with Mr. Romney shows, but she is certainly more conservative than Bruce Braley.
