A Quincy man has been charged with obstructing the investigation of the Boston Marathon bombings, the U.S. Attorney's Office just announced.
Khairullozhon Matanov, 23, is charged in an indictment that was unsealed today, with one count of destroying, altering, and falsifying records, documents, and tangible objects in a federal investigation, specifically information on his computer, and three counts of making materially false, fictitious, and fraudulent statements in a federal terrorism investigation.

The man, Khairullozhon Matanov, a 23-year-old taxi driver who lives in Quincy, Massachusetts, faces one criminal count of destroying records and three of lying to investigators in a terrorism investigation, according to court papers.
Prosecutors said Matanov had been friends with accused bombers Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, spoke with both in the days after the blast but lied to police about the extent of his relationship with the pair
You don't actually delete a file when you delete a file. If you physically destroy the memory device (fire is good) they can't read anything on it.

Interesting in that poi had dinner with and bought dinner for the two bombers on the evening of the bombing. poi also placed a call to the older bomber forty minutes after bombing in Boston.

The indictment said that Matanov had participated in a “variety of activities with Tamerlan Tsarnaev, including discussing religious topics and hiking up a New Hampshire mountain in order to train like, and praise, the ‘mujahideen’ [Islamic guerrilla fighters].”
And it said that when Matanov returned home from dinner with the Tsarnaev brothers on the night of the bombing, he told a witness that the bombings “could have had a just reason, such as being done in the name of Islam, that he would support the bombings if the reason were just or the attack had been done by the Taliban, and that the victims had gone to paradise.”
He continued to express support for the bombings in the following days, the indictment said.
But the indictment also alleged that, while he discussed the bombings with the Tsarnaevs at the diinner, he did not suspect they were involved until their pictures were released by the FBI several days later.
Matanov is expected to appear in federal court in Boston this afternoon.
