Too bad, I thought this was going to be a thread about Robin Trower.

I nearly added that. Awesome guitar work. Bridge of Sighs seems slightly appropriate these days too.

Well that stone keeps on rolling
Bringing me some real bad news
The takers get the honey
Givers sing the blues

LOL. I clicked on this thread solely because of the Trower reference and figured I'd seem some FR Trowerheads showing up. I thihk Trower is often overlooked because as good as his career was he was never able to recapture the soaring brilliance of "Bridge of Sighs".

Rolling Stone- the self anointed “authorities on Rock and Roll” who did nothing but trash the mighty Led Zeppelin in the 70’s....kind of puts things into perspective....

I recall listening to an interview with him (many?) years ago and he said he was looking for a vocalist, said that he thought Paul Rodgers would be a good fit. I was disappointed that never came off, at least not that I’m aware of.

Yes, I blame them for the snotty, elitist tone of much if the “music press.”
I won’t buy it because I hate Matt Taibbi so much. And you know that I seldom use the word “hate” on people.
Oh, and there was the Tsaranov embarrassment.
Over the decades though, it’s interesting how the publication has changed. When I last did read one, probably because of a cover story on Kurt Cobain, I thought I was reading a lifestyle magazine like Playboy. One ad after another for hard liquor. So they’re all wearing their fathers golf pants and driving their fathers Oldsmobile now? Maybe Jann Wenner took it in this direction.
When I was teenager in the 70s,, RS was still published in San Francisco and had names and addresses of prisoners wanting pen pals in the back. All gone now.

I had a subscription until around 2006 when I just couldn’t take it anymore. They continued to send me magazines well after it expired - 3 years approximately - presumably to keep their circulation numbers up.
