re: Cruz for president

I thought he was our no-brainer choice until he showed his weakness on foreign policy. He's too much bang-the-drums on world affairs, rather than being the nuanced, analytic and careful force in world affairs who could "play chess with Putin".

He seems to have taken sides on Ukraine. I don't get that....it's not impossible that their civil war could spill over to the US. He didn't demand something dramatic like closing the main road to Mexico to get that marine out of the Mexican jail. Has he spoken out forcefully about the US arming terrorists in Syria (playing too nice with McCain?)

I suspect it's that Cruz's strength isn't foreign affairs. I just wonder if there's anyone since Dan Quayle who's had those skills.

One of his strengths is that he seems like Reagan on foreign affairs.

After Obama’s libertarian type weakness in our NATO responsibility, we will need Cruz bringing in his Reagan instincts.
