As previously reported, in the Crimea in the village Perevalnoe armed Cossacks carried out the seizure of the temple.

Our editors received a statement to the press service UPTSKP, along with a video shot from the scene. The statement of the present fully:

Perevalnoe in the Crimea in the temple of the Holy Virgin Ukrainian Orthodox Church Kiev Patriarchate, cracked doors, a gang of armed men criminal appearance, which was dressed up, as Cossacks. They smashed the internal arrangement of the temple and took it, not allowing the rector Archpriest Ivan Katkalo hold service.

When the priest arrived, cursing thugs attacked him, smashed car. In defense of their pastor were parishioners, who also suffered from beatings hitters. In particular beatings got pregnant woman and the daughter of his father Ivan, with cerebral palsy.

All appeals to the Russian police in Crimea initially there was no answer. Only three hours later the police arrived, which, however, took the side of the attackers. Like bandits - "Cossacks" and police explained their actions by saying that "Kiev Patriarchate is anti-Russian activities and thus has no place in the Russian Crimea"

On appeal manager Archdiocese Clement Russian Crimean authorities still have not responded.

It is obvious that the attack on the temple with Basil. Perevalnoe is planned action. After all, the day before, on Saturday evening, the father came home Ivan Katkalo priest of the Moscow Patriarchate and demanded voluntarily to "liberate" the temple, saying: "This is your last days in the Crimea."

Also in recent days in the Crimea disappeared three activists of the Ukrainian community. All these events are of great concern and fear that soon these pogroms and interests can occur in other Crimean temples UOC-KP.

In connection with this press - Kiev Patriarchate Centre expresses its strong protest against the violent acts committed against the church, the clergy and faithful of the Kiev Patriarchate with. Perevalnoe, Crimea. We urge the Russian authorities to put an end to harassment Crimea Ukrainian Orthodox believers, and officers from among the attackers and police officers who help them, to prosecute.

Also express our protest against the pressure on communities Kiev Patriarchate of the clergy of the Moscow Patriarchate. Given that the Crimean diocese is a part of the UOC- Moscow Patriarchate, we expect that the leadership of the Church condemn such behavior of their representatives and take measures to prevent a repetition in the future.

Please offer prayers for the believers of the Kyivan Patriarchate in the Crimea, which harassed and persecuted.

That word temple. The French use that word instead of eiglice to define a place of protestant or jewish worship. In English it’s used usually to define non Christian places of worship or of gathering for a specific purpose with the exception of the Mormons. Apparently in the Ukrainian language they don’t make those distinctions. Hence every “church” is a temple. Thus when a translation appears using that noun shows up they really mean church which is usually orthodox.
