One aspect of this story concerns me and I’d really like to put it to rest -
Having been in the Navy many decades ago, I’m certainly not up on current Army slang. Would an American soldier refer to Bergdahl leaving “his kit” behind? That sounds more like a Britishism to me. I would have expected an American soldier to call it “his gear” instead.
What American soldier ever called his gear his “kit”. Something wrong with that narrative if it was supposedly written by an American.
