I see the point. I also hate to see the corruption of the word “fraccing” to be spelled “fracking”. The latter term originated with a NYT reporter who wished to worsen the perception of the procedure to be more like an inelegant and derogatory term.
Point well taken. I admit to having used both spellings, and should use the more correct fraccing. My fallback position is to use "hydraulic fracturing" when I'm not too tired or lazy to type it out.
