Thank Malkin for referring to him as Pfc. I’m already sick of everyone referring to him as Sgt.

Obama was looking for a military “hero” in light of the VA scandal. No man left behind and all that. He’s one of the troops.

And appeased (ala Chamberlain) the wogs so we don’t get blow’d up by them.

Well, look how well that turned out for dear Neville.

I live in Idaho. I am happy for this man’s family and will not say anything against that specifically.

However, I am appalled by what the Obama administration did to secure his release.

This is insane. He has negotiated with terrorists and freed five of the most deadly captives we had. Several of them have American blood on their hands and the others our allies. They will go back to planning and killing more Americans. They should have been summarily executed long ago after we got all of the intelligence we could out of them.

It is a travesty and will lead to many more American deaths...and what will we tell the parents, family, and friends of those killed?

It will open the door for other groups, and the Taliban to take more Americans so they can get more of their top people back. What will we tell the parents, family and friends of those taken?

Again, the Obama administration has cavalierly violated US law to make this happen.

It sickens me to think what this will lead to.

We already know the Taliban is viewing it (and understandably so) as a great victory. They will use it to recruit more killers.

As to the Sgt. himself...irrespective of the amount of time he was held...the circumstances of his going missing need to be investigated. He had written to his parents telling them he had lost faith with the mission, was ashamed to be an American, and was thinking of going AWOL.

Did he? We do not know...but it needs to be understood just the same.

Let’s get one thing straight: This idiot is a traitor, and he is no hero. Leave it to this administration, the Democratic Party, and liberals in general to put someone like this on a pedestal.
He was not drunk when he was “captured”. I am wrtiting from Bagram. This is my sixth trip here. Every one of these trips, General Order One has been enforced. If he was drunk, he should be punished IAW the UCMJ, not to mention for desertion. He’s broken so many “laws” it’s not funny. I guess he’s quite lucky we have a CIC with no respect for rule of law. Two peas in a pod.

Michelle Malkin is like Sarah Palin in that she’s every bit as smart and tough as she is beautiful.

I remember reading something that someone in the same COP wrote about him ; that he had been smoking a lot of hashish with the Afghanis stationed there with them and started developing odd ideas and stating “ this war is pointless’ sort of sentiments , before wandering off .

From what I’ve been reading, it wasn’t worth the fuel to fly him home. Unless the plane was landing at KCI, then a ride to Ft. Leavenworth for trial.

Obama went to Afghanistan

Kharzai would not see him.

White House email names CIA Station Chief in Kabul.

Obama swaps one PFC AWOL for five Gitmo Taliban commanders.

What Jackassery will happen next?

It seems like a lot of people didn’t know about this...I had heard that there was something amiss with this way back when.

I wonder if it will be discussed in the media to any greater degree.

from the article:

I’ve been reporting for over a week (along with the AP and WaPo) that Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl, the US soldier who’s gone missing in eastern Afghanistan, walked off the base on his own accord.

Now, somebody close to the people searching for Bergdahl has repeated this assertion saying that the soldier left “a note behind that said he was going to the mountains to find himself. He took a journal and 4 or 5 knives with him.” My source tells me that Bergdahl arrived at a village and asked if anybody spoke English. That’s when he was captured.

My source tells me that there is no doubt Bergdahl deserted, which in a time of war is punishable by a court martial at the least, or even execution.

Way to go ZERO.

You trade a deserter for 5 dangerous thugs.
What a great commander-in-chief.
Even Jimmah Katah couldn't top that! ! ! ! !

“Forwarded from Jeff Howard. “We were at OP Mest, Paktika Province, Afghanistan. It was a small outpost where B Co 1-501st INF (Airbone) ran operations out of, just an Infantry platoon and ANA counterparts there. The place was an Afghan graveyard. Bergdahl had been acting a little strange, telling people he wanted to “walk the earth” and kept a little journal talking about how he was meant for better things. No one thought anything about it. He was a little “out there”. Next morning he’s gone. We search everywhere, and can’t find him. He left his weapon, his kit, and other sensitive items. He only took some water, a compass and a knife. We find some afghan kids shortly after who saw an american walking north asking about where the taliban are. We get hits on our voice intercepter that Taliban has him, and we were close. We come to realize the kid deserted his post, snuck out of camp and sought out Taliban… to join them. We were in a defensive position at OP Mest, where your focus is to keep people out. He knew where the blind spots were to slip out and that’s what he did. It was supposed to be a 4-day mission but turned into several months of active searching. Everyone was spun up to find this guy. News outlets all over the country were putting out false information. It was hard to see, especially when we knew the truth about what happened and we lost good men trying to find him. PFC Matthew Michael Martinek, Staff Sgt. Kurt Robert Curtiss, SSG Clayton Bowen, PFC Morris Walker, SSG Michael Murphrey, 2LT Darryn Andrews, were all KIA from our unit who died looking for Bergdahl. Many others from various units were wounded or killed while actively looking for Bergdahl. Fighting Increased. IEDs and enemy ambushes increased. The Taliban knew that we were looking for him in high numbers and our movements were predictable. Because of Bergdahl, more men were out in danger, and more attacks on friendly camps and positions were conducted while we were out looking for him. His actions impacted the region more than anyone wants to admit. There is also no way to know what he told the Taliban: Our movements, locations, tactics, weak points on vehicles and other things for the enemy to exploit are just a few possibilities. The Government knows full well that he deserted. It looks bad and is a good propaganda piece for the Taliban. They refuse to acknowledge it. Hell they even promoted him to Sergeant which makes me sick. I feel for his family who only want their son/brother back. They don’t know the truth, or refuse to acknowledge it as well. What he did affected his family and his whole town back home, who don’t know the truth. Either way what matters is that good men died because of him. He has been lying on all those Taliban videos about everything since his “capture”. If he ever returns, he should be tried under the UCMJ for being a deserter and judged for what he did. Bergdahl is not a hero, he is not a soldier or an Infantryman. He failed his brothers. Now, sons and daughters are growing up without their fathers who died for him and he will have to face that truth someday.”
